Prof. Dr. Hristina Nikolova Participated as Lecturer in the International Seminar on European Transport Markets and European Transport Policy

For the eighth consecutive year the Head of the Economics of Transport and Energy Department Prof. Dr. Hristina Nikolova took part as a lecturer in the International Seminar on European Transport Markets and European Transport Policy held from 24 to 28 March 2024.

The Seminar organized by Heilbronn University /Germany/ has a tradition of over 40 years and it is held annually at the Theodor Heuss Leadership Academy in Gummersbach, in the province of North Rhine-Westphalia /Germany/. Over the years the University of Breda /Netherlands/ and the UNWE /Bulgaria/ has been involved as partners in the organization and implementation of the Seminar.

Prof. Nikolova joined the team of lecturers and experts leading the Seminar for the students of the three universities in 2017. During the Seminar she led an interactive session with lectures and a workshop on Sustainable Transportation Development. Besides her the lecturers of the Seminar were Prof. Dr. Frank Fichert /University of Worms, Germany/ - Vice Dean of the Transport Department and Member of the Board of Directors of the German Aerospace Research Society /GARS/; Prof. Dr. Claudia Hermeling /Heilbronn University, Germany/ - Dean for Educational Affairs and Head of the Bachelor`s and Master`s degree programmes in Transport Management and Logistics; Prof. Dr. Jan Willem Propper /University of Breda, Netherlands/ - longstanding lecturer and President of the European Council for Supply Chain Management Professionals /CSCMP/.

Established experts in the field of transport and logistics practice in Germany and the Netherlands also took part in the Seminar as lecturers: Dirk Sayle - Head of the Brussels Office of the Federal Association of Road Haulage, Logistics and Warehousing /Germany/; Sven Maarten - Researcher at the German Aerospace Centre /DLR/ - National Centre for Aeronautics, Energy and Transport Research of the Federal Republic of Germany; Arthur Kaminga - Expert for Competition and Market Regulation in Public Transport in the Benelux Countries at FLIXBus Multinational Company.

As part of the interdisciplinary intensive seminar the lecturers, experts and students discussed the latest issues of transport and mobility development and proposed strategies for overcoming the current challenges in the field. Of particular interest to the students was the opportunity to express themselves creatively as part of the so-called Future Seminar, in which the students, under the guidance of their professors, discussed the diverse problems of transport and proposed options for long-term solutions.
