Pupils from Pirot and Tsaribrod Learned about the Opportunities to Study at Our University

A team of representatives of UNWE presented the possibilities of studying at our university to the students in their final year at the High School of Economics in Pirot and St. Cyril and Methodius High School in Caribrod, Serbia.

Before the meeting with the students a meeting was held with the educational teams to discuss the interests of the children, their achievements and the problems of the Bulgarian community in neighbouring Serbia.

The Vice Rector for International Activities Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov, said: "We have exceptional traditions with the Republic of Serbia. Our university has many students from Caribrod region and Pirot region. They are of great importance to us because in this way the Bulgarian identity is preserved. We mainly offer specialities in the fields of economics, administration, business, law, journalism and tourism. You know that Sofia is a rapidly developing city, but for us the big and important objective is not only to educate these children, for us it is important that they have the opportunity to come back to Caribrod and show what they have learnt here in practice. We do not want to keep them in Bulgaria, on the contrary, we would like them to come back and help their region".

The Coordinator of the agreement with the two municipalities of Pirot and Caribrod Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgy Nikolov also addressed the students: "Now is the moment when you can determine the path of your future development. Therefore, we would like to motivate you to pursue higher education and further training, because a study by the European Union shows that the people change their profession at least twice in the course of their life. Your teachers who impart knowledge to you every day at the secondary school, and we, your future lecturers, who stand before you now, would like to give you the opportunity to widen your scope in the process of your future realization. There is no better place in the world than the University of National and World Economy, but you will find that out for yourselves over the time. You will study 40 subjects during your undergraduate studies, but you will not be alone. For us as educators, it is our job to walk hand in hand with you. We are not only lecturers, but also modern people who love engaged students, and we do our best to provide a good transfer of knowledge to pass on the skills and competencies you need in today's dynamic world. That's why we constantly participate in international forums and pass on our knowledge and experience to our students".

The lecturers told the prospective students about the opportunities to obtain double diplomas, about the specialities taught in English, about the ENGAGE.EU project and the Erasmus+ Programme, which will give them the opportunity to upgrade their knowledge internationally. The students also learned about the student dormitories of our university, which are 70% renovated and provide excellent accommodation conditions for over 5 000 students. The sports facilities of the University were also presented with the opportunities to practice different types of sports at Bonsist Sports Complex.

The students were particularly interested in the specialities Law and Finance and asked questions about the specialities taught in English and the study programmes that provide double dimploma.
