The Female Basketball Team Won A Cup in An International Tournament in Istanbul

The female basketball team of our university came back with a cup for the second place from an International Tournament in Istanbul. Host of the Tournament was the Istanbul University, successor of the famous in the past Magnaura School. The University was found in 1453, in the year the Turkish conquered Constantinople.

After a victory over the team of St. Climet Ohridski University of Sofia by a score 48:49 in the semi-final competition, our girls faced against the strong team of the hosts in the final competition and lost by a score 68:47.    

Our team has received a special invitation for the Tournament due to the personal contacts of Larisa Kasabova with colleagues from the Istanbul University. Kasabova is a senior lecturer at the Physical Education and Sport Department and its Scientific Secretary.

Larisa Kasabova bestowed to the Rector Prof. D. Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev also a special plaque as a sign of gratitude for the participation of UNWE from Professor Dr. Yunus Soylet, Rector of the Istanbul University.
