Our University Will Cooperate with the Chamber of Economy in Pirot

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov took part in a meeting of the Socio-Economic Council of Pirot, Serbia.

In the framework of the event the UNWE and the Chamber of Economy in Pirot signed a Memorandum of Cooperation.

The document was signed by the Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov and the President of the Chamber Dr. Dragan Kostic.

Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov presented the UNWE and outlined that it is a business university with over 100 years of tradition, the largest and the eldest higher economic school in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe, which educates 20 thousand students. The Rector pointed out that more than 300 students from Serbia and the region of Pirot study at theUNWE and added: "The Chamber of Economy in Pirot is a long-standing partner of UNWE but by the signing of this memorandum, we are pleased to advance to a new level of our cooperation and to find more opportunities for upgrading. Such opportunity is the project for the creation of the industrial duty-free zone Tsaribrod-Dragoman which was presented to us by the Chamber of Economy in Pirot. There are also projects for cross-border cooperation where we can find a filed for fruitful work but I think that the cultural and purely human contacts between the universities, municipalities and the business are also very important for the friendly relations between Bulgaria and Serbia".

The President of the Chamber of Economy in Pirot Dr. Dragan Kostic, expressed his contentment with the signing of the Memorandum of Cooperation with the UNWE and said that there are many opportunities for organizing joint initiatives, conferences, and seminars and that he hopes to work jointly with the University on the project for the establishment of the industrial duty-free zone "Tsaribrod-Dragoman".

Coordinator for the implementation of the Memorandum of Cooperation on behalf of UNWE is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Georgy Nikolov, Vice Dean for Educational Activity of the Management and Administration Faculty and Head of the Regional Development Department, and Coordinator on behalf of the Chamber of Economy in Pirot is Dr. Alexander Simonovic.
