The UNWE hosted the third edition of BSides Sofia, a non-commercial event of the community of specialists and enthusiasts in the field of information and cyber security. In the current year the edition enjoyed strong international participation with guest speakers from Greece, Ukraine, Kazakhstanq etc. and gathered 328 registered participants and other ones with open access.

Presian Yankulov, one of the organizers and a network security engineer at BaselineIT.eu commented: "Our main objective is to bring together professionals and enthusiasts on the topic of information and cyber security to exchange experience, skills, and contacts. We want to give members of the public the opportunity to express their talents and skills without pressure from producers, commercial intentions or sales expectations. This year, we have introduced a symbolic fee in order to make registration more accurate so that we don't take away the opportunity of those who actually want to attend the event. The entire registration amount is reinvested along with sponsor funds into giveaways for attendees, food and drinks during the day, a chill zone and after party".

Hristo Laskov, also one of the organizers, expressed thankfulness to all those who stood behind BSides as sponsors and supporters. "This is the biggest of the three events. In the previous edition we gave the start of organising a cyber security team from Bulgaria, which participated for the first time in the European Competition and in the Competiton in Norway took part Viktor Slavov, Simeon Bunchev and Krasimir Velkov."

On the first day the attendees heard and exchanged experiences with 10 speakers who presented their analyses of vulnerabilities they had discovered and explored, and on the second day they participated in 3 hands-on workshops.

Some of the participants - students from the UNWE from the specialties Cyber Security and Electronic Management and Computer Processing and Data Analysis

The idea of the Security BSides events is to be organized an open information security conference where InfoSec professionals, experts, researchers and enthusiasts come together to discuss the next 'big thing'.

The BSides Conference is open to a wide range of security-related topics such as incident response, IoT security, computer forensics, standards for security and compliance.
