Students from the Industrial Business Department Met with Representatives of DHL Express

At the end of the lecture course on Business Risk Management Assoc. Prof. Petya Biolcheva, lecturer at the Industrial Business Department, organized a special meeting between the students and Dr. Plamen Sofroniev, Senior Manager Country Support - Trade Compliance Europe at DHL Express.

The meeting was focused on issues related to the trade compliance, export controls, ban lists, and international sanctions.

Assoc. Prof. Biolcheva opened the meeting, pointing out the importance of the collaborative work between the University and the business, and gave an opportunity to Dr. Sofroniev to share his extensive experience.

The guest revealed in a very interesting way the nature of commercial compliance, the stakeholders and the risks they face. He showed various mechanisms and techniques through which some abuses related to the violation and circumvention of sanctions could be prevented. He also outlined the practical approach to ensure trade compliance and export control.

Great interest among the students in the crowded hall provoked the real cases faced by company employees and the way they are solved. It allowed the students to be more prepared for the real business. They also received an offer for career development through student internships at DHL Express.
