The Chinese Students Studying at the UNWE Participated in a Cultural and Educational Exchange at the Chinese Cultural Centre

At an official event at the Chinese Cultural Center /Sofia/ the Chinese students studying in the Dual Bachelor`s Programme between the Tianjin Foreign Studies University /TFSU/, China and the UNWE, led by the Economics Department, attended the premiere of the novel Drum Singers by Lao She.

The book Drum Singers by Lao She, translated from Chinese by Evgeny Karaulanov and published by Bulgarian Bestseller Publishing house, gathered in the Chinese Cultural Center a selected audience of specialists, theatergoers, lovers of literature and Chinese culture. The Chinese Performing Arts and the Polish Studia Teatalne magazines focused on the Chinese drama and theatre were also presented unconventionally. And the evening ended with a moving performance by He Qing Fang, a student at the Musical Academy in Bulgaria, who sang a popular Chinese aria and brought the audience to tears singing the song My Country, My Bulgaria in Bulgarian. For the pleasant atmosphere and a fulfilling experience the organizers jointly with Moutai- Bulgaria served exotic cocktails that contributed to the sense of the elegance of Chinese spirit and culture.

Among the official guests were Prof. Ognyan Gerdzhikov, former Chairman of the Bulgarian Parliament and interim Prime Minister /January-May 2017/, Mr. Guan Xin, Cultural Advisor to the Chinese Ambassador, Mrs. Lee King, Cultural Attaché, Mr. Hong Hai, Director of the Chinese Cultural Center, Neshka Robeva and many other important personalities, clearly recognizable in the public space.

The publisher Dr. Yuliana Tomova, lecturer at the Intellectual Property Department /UNWE/, welcomed the guests and presented the novel Drum Singers which turned out to have an extraordinary fate. The author Lao She is one of the most respected modern classics of Chinese drama and literature  (1899-1966).

The culmination of the event was the awarding of the Honorary Plaque of the Economics Department to H.E. Mr. Dong Xiaojun, Ambassador of China to Bulgaria, for his overall contribution to the development of educational and cultural exchange between Bulgaria and People`s Republic of China and, in particular, for his support for the realization and implementation of the Dual Bachelor`s Programme. The Plaque was presented by Chief Assist. Dr. Anika Petkova, Coordinator of the Dual Bachelor`s Programme and the Chinese students.

Thus in the hold of cultures from all over the world and among extraordinary destinies the acquaintanceship continued in the cozy atmosphere of the Chinese Cultural Center.
