Representatives of the University of Carthage Visited the UNWE

Last week, two representatives from the University of Carthage, Tunisia, visited our university. Their introductory visit was part of the Cooperation Agreement signed this year between the UNWE and the University of Carthage. They were Prof. Hassen Mzali, Director of the Institute of Higher Commercial Studies at the University of Carthage /Institut des Hautes Études Commerciales de Carthage/ and Prof. Samir Hamza, Director of the Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology at the same university /Institut National des Sciences Appliquées et de Technologie/.

Within a few days, the professors got acquainted with the facilities at the UNWE as well as with many of our lecturers.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yanko Hristozov, Secretary General for International Affairs, welcomed the guests and presented to them the history and strengths of our university.

Prof. D.Sc. /Econ./ Valentin Kisimov showed the colleagues from Tunis  the Data Center.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Monika Moraliyska, Deputy Head of the International Economic Relations and Business Department and Coordinator of the Agreement with the University of Carthage, presented further information about the university to the colleagues. At the meetings with the Vice Dean for International Cooperation of the Faculty of International Economics and Politics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Hristov possibilities for future cooperation, exchange of lecturers and students, joint research activities, etc. were also discussed. The foreign lecturers met with the Dean of the Faculty Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetla Boneva, the Head of the Political Science Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elena Simeonova and with the Head of the Foreign Languages and Applied Linguistics Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Antonia Pencheva as well as with other colleagues from the Faculty.

At the end of their visit to Bulgaria the professors presented the activities of their institutes to the Executive Director of Sofia Tech Park, a graduate of our university, speciality International Economic Relations.


The Institute of Higher Commercial Studies of Carthage /IHEC/ was the first commercial school in Tunisia, founded in 1942. The Institute plays an important role in preparing students and professionals in the fields of business and management by offering various degrees, including Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral programmes.

The Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology /INSAT/ was founded in 1992 and it is Tunisia's national institute for engineering and technology. It has a modern infrastructure, laboratories and resources to support the education and research process. The Institute offers Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degree programmes in various disciplines such as electrical engineering, information technology, computer science, electronics, mechatronics, biotechnology and other technical sciences.
