Microsoft Became a Strategic Partner of UNWE after Signing a Memorandum

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and Kalin Dimchev, Executive Director of Microsoft Bulgaria and General Manager of the Adriatics Region at Microsoft, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Microsoft Bulgaria is a subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation, one of the largest developers, manufacturers, distributors and providers of software technologies and cloud services in the world. Cooperation will be carried out in partnership in projects and events, exchange of information in the field of software technologies, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, information processing and cloud services.

"As the largest and eldest higher economic school in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe with over 100 years of history, we maintain and develop a highly qualified academic staff of eminent, nationally and internationally recognized lecturers and scientists and have the ambition to be a leader among universities in Southeastern Europe, training students and conducting research in the field of economics, management and administration", said the Rector of UNWE explaining that the University was working on several projects related to software technologies and data processing. "One of them is entitled Digitalization of the Economy in a Big Data /DIGD/ Environment and on it a cooperation can take place. We have successfully completed the first stage in which we have built a big data processing center jointly with six universities and we are about to apply for a second one, where we will deepen the research in which you can help us", said the Rector. Kalin Dimchev, country manager of Microsoft Bulgaria, explained that Microsoft has developed a structured approach in partnership with universities not only in the part of technology delivery but also in the part of optimizing and improving the learning process through modern technology services and platforms. "We can introduce your students to state-of-the-art platforms for data processing, productivity, business management, cybersecurity, which are based on cloud infrastructure and should not be supported by you. Also, these platforms are enriched with tools based on Artificial Intelligence", Mr. Dimchev said.

On behalf of UNWE the Coordinator of the Memorandum is Chief Assist. Dr. Daniela Tzvetkova from the Entrepreneurship Department. The meeting was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nikolay Vankov from the Entrepreneurship Department, organizer of the Workshop for Entrepreneurs 2023 which started the same day. He invited Microsoft representatives to attend the Forum and get acquainted with reports related to artificial intelligence and working marketing strategies for small and medium-sized businesses. The Deputy Governor of Sofia Stefan Arsov also took part in the meeting.
