The Roman Law Gathered Together Scientists from Five Countries at the Regional Center for Distance Learning in Haskovo

Authoritative scientists from five countries participated in the Eight International Seminar on the Roman Law and Modern Times whose host was the Regional Center for Distance Learning – Haskovo. University lecturers from Bulgaria, Italy, the Czech Republic, Russia and China discussed legal-historical issues and marked the stages in the development of the legal phenomenon till its projection in the present days.

Guide of the seminar was Assoc. Prof. Konstantin Tanev, Director of the Inter-University Center for Study of the Roman Law and Romanesque Tradition to the UNWE. Among the lecturers were Prof. Leonid Kafanov from the Russian Academy of Science, Prof. Karla Mazi, Director of the Italian Department on Legal Sciences, Prof. Muzo Mechi from Katania, Prof. Gzeypek from the University of Prague, scientists from the Shanghai University, etc. Reports have been sent also by their colleagues from Poland and Serbia. 

During the Forum

We discussed, speaking in general, the sources of the law: from the legal concepts to the legal regulation, from judge`s decision to conclusions of the jurists, summarized Assoc. Prof. Konstantin Tanev. Except him two Bulgarian scientists also presented their reports – Prof. Maria Kostova and Genka Mozhuhyan. The choice of the place for the Forum is not occasional, because the Regional Center for Distance Learning of UNWE has a long history here”, outlined at the opening of the Forum Irena Uzunova, Regional Manager of Haskovo.

The conduction of the seminar is a step in the strengthening of UNWE as a leader among universities in Southeastern Europe educating students and carrying out researches in the field of economics, management and administration, law and politics.
