The UNWE Trustees Council and the Rector`s Managing Body Met with the Student Senate
A meeting of the Trustees Council and the Rector's Managing Body with the Student Senate took place at UNWE.
The meeting was attended by Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policy, Gergana Kirilova, Director of the Rector`s Office, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lilyana Valcheva, Chairperson of the UNWE Trustees Council and Chairperson of the National Branch Syndicate Higher Education and Science to the Bulgarian Independent Syndicates Confederation, Martin Petkov, Organising Secretary and Yovko Atanasov, member of theTrustees Council. The Student Senate was represented by Ilian Chabukliisky, President of the UNWE Student Council, Kaloyan Stefanov, Secretary of the Student Council and Alexander Chankov, Gabriela Metodieva, Daniel Zhelyazkov, members of the Student Senate.

The Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov greetd the participants in the meeting and emphasized: "I welcome the fact that we meet at the beginning of the academic year. We have a lot of work ahead of us - a session of the Academic Council where we will approve the University's budget, then a General Assembly, we also have joint initiatives with the Student Council and activities on the application campaign so it's good to coordinate".

During the meeting issues related to the student scholarships, upcoming joint initiatives and events to be organized by the UNWE Student Council were discussed.
Regarding scholarships, the parties agreed on the common position that the student scholarships should be increased by BGN 20. It was reported that there is a positive trend that in the current academic year 2500 students will receive a scholarship, which is with 1000 more than during the last year.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lilyana Valcheva reminded that it has been submitted a proposal for an amendment to the Law on Higher Education, which concerns the binding of the student scholarships with a percentage of the minimum wage for the country.

Assoc. Prof. Valcheva also recommended active participation in projects under the Operational Programme Science and Education for Smart Growth and expressed the willingness of the Trustees Council to support the initiatives and events organized by the UNWE and the Student Council.
Ilian Chabukliysky presented the main events of the Student Council's calendar, which will include a Charity Cinema Evening with the screening of the film In the Heart of the Machine on 26 October at 6.30 p.m. in Maxima Aula, preparations for the 20th anniversary edition of the Youth Economic Forum, which will be held in the period of 13 to 18 November 2023 and the competition UNWE Student of the Year 2023 at the end of November.
The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov announced that an Open Doors Day will be held at the UNWE on 21 November at the same time as the Career Days 2023.
