The Rector of UNWE, Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, welcomed the guests with the words: "The successful project to renovate the three blocks is an example of very good teamwork. Three years ago we received funding of BGN 10.5 million for the renovation of the dormitories and despite the problems, we managed to do it due to the efforts of the team, the legal department, the property management, the deputy rector Prof. Kiril Stoychev and all those who were in the team.it due to the efforts of the team, the Legal and Regulatory Services Directorate, Property Management Directorate, the Assistant Rector Prof. D.Sc./Econ./ Kiril Stoychev and all those who were in the team. It was not easy. We over-delivered our promise because we added new things to the original project - video surveillance at the entrances, children's rooms, reading rooms. All efforts are aimed at ensuring our students to live and learn in better conditions".

The Minister of Education and Science Prof. Dr. Galin Tsokov greeted the UNWE Managing Body for the successfully implemented project. He emphasized on the fact that the decision to renovate the university dormitories in 2020 was taken when Krassimir Valchev was Minister of Education. He pointed out that a new subsidy has now been decided, allocating BGN 100 million for the renovation, reconstruction and establishment of student dormitories within the period 2024-2026.

"The modern, quality higher education has several dimensions one of which is the creation of a suitable learning environment. After today our higher education will take a small step closer to the global trends and the UNWE will get another chance to catch up with the best universities in Europe as it develops this new, modern space for its students to prepare for exams and write their first publications", said Prof. Tsokov.

"I greet personally Prof. Dimitrov for making the UNWE one of the few universities that have successfully implemented the renovation project. It is a fact that many universities have not been able to renovate their dormitories due to the inflation, some kind of crisis and other reasons. I also greet Daniel Parushev, Chairman of the National Representation of Student Councils, because he has been the most active in applying for funds for student dormitories", said Krasimir Valchev, former Minister of Education and current Chairman of the Education Committee in the National Assembly.

"I greet you for this acquisition and I am very happy that 300 students will be accommodated in this new facility. I say new facility because it is like a new block that has just been built. It is an investment in the future, an investment in education, in young people. I would also like to express thankfulness to the Minister of Education and Mr. Valchev for the new programme, because it will renovate many of the dormitories in Bulgaria. I believe that UNWE will reapply because this largest university has a shortage of places. More than 700 UNWE students are accommodated in dormitories of other universities", said Daniel Parushev, Chairman of the National Representation of Student Councils.

Ilian Chabukliysky, Chairman of the Student Council at UNWE, also greeted both the Managing Body of UNWE and the contractors of the renovation - the company "Constructor" Ltd. "These very good living conditions will motivate our students to study more and achieve better grades. I hope that the programme will continue in the coming years so that more blocks will be renovated because the UNWE is traditionally full and we traditionally have students who are accommodated in dormitories of other universities".
