Prof. Dimitrov Was One of the Keynote Speakers at a Discussion on the Interaction between the Science and Business in the Relations between Bulgaria and China

The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov was one of the keynote speakers in the discussion on the Interaction between the Science and Business - Good Practices and Prospects in the Relations between Bulgaria and China. The initiator and organizer of the discussion dedicated to the jubilee anniversary of the initiative One Belt, One Road initiative is China Media Group. The event was held at the Chinese Cultural Centre with the support of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Sofia and personally by the Chinese ambassador H. E. Dong Xiaojun and in partnership with the Bulgarian-Chinese Chamber of Industrial Development.

"Behind this statement of mine is a long history of interaction between the UNWE and various universities in China, including research projects and student exchanges. I would like to express thankfulness to the Chinese ambassador H. E. Dong Xiaojun for his video address to students at the opening of our academic year. Earlier, he and I opened a renovated campus of UNWE dormitories which awaits the first Chinese students of the joint Bachelor`s degree programme in Economics with Jiao Tong University /SJTU/". These were the words Prof. Dimitrov outlined the framework of the cooperation saying that for three years there had been a hybrid training in China, and now a smaller number of students would be trained locally at the UNWE. Prof. Dimitrov talked about the language courses and joint research projects pointing out that even the panels for the university's new photovoltaic park had also come from China.

Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov outlined that the potential for cooperation between our country and China in the field of education is huge. It was confirmed by the words of the Deputy Minister of Economy and Industry Nikolay Pavlov who pointed out that hard work is being done in this direction.

That`s the reason the government has set as major priority to strengthen the relationship between the science and business, emphasized the Deputy Minister. According to him this relation is set up in a number of strategic documents such as the Economic Recovery Plan.

Since the beginning of the initiative One Belt, One Road the trade between China and Bulgaria has increased significantly, outlined the Minister of Agriculture and Food Assoc. Prof. Deyan Stratev. He pointed out that the cooperation between the two countries was particularly serious in the agricultural sector.

Over the past 10 years the two countries have also deepened their partnership in the field of space food, said Prof. Denitsa Borisova from the Space Research and Technology Institute /SRTI/ at Bulgarian Academy of Science /BAS/.

The moderator of the event dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the initiative One Belt, One Road was Mrs. Iveta Balewska, correspondent of the Chinese Media Group in Bulgaria. Different perspectives were presented on the topics of science-business interaction as a guarantee for improving people's well-being: innovative methods and digitalization in different areas of cooperation and joint investment as well as concrete examples of good practices and perspectives in the relations between Bulgaria and China.
