The UNWE hosted the public lecture by the President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue on the development of cooperation between Viet Nam and Bulgaria.

"I am particularly pleased that during my visit we have been able to hold this event at your very prestigious university. Many of our economists have graduated from the UNWE and occupy high positions", said at his arrival at our university the President of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue /on the right in the picture below/.

"It is a great honour for me to welcome one of the most important personalities of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam - Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue - to the largest business university in South Eastern Europe", said the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov at the opening of the public lecture and emphasized: “I am convinced of the potential of cooperation between Viet Nam and Bulgaria not only in the economic field but also in the field of education and research".

Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov outlined that the UNWE is part of the European alliance of leading universities ENGAGE.EU and has already have an extensive experience in collaborating with foreign universities from all around the world and in creating joint double Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes which are of great benefit to students as they receive a diploma from two universities at the same time.

"We collaborate with three Vietnamese universities - Ho Chi Minh City Open University, Hue University and Thai Nguyen University. Therefore, we will be happy to continue our cooperation with them as well as with other Vietnamese universities to implement joint programmes together", said the Rector.

"It is an honour for me to deliver this lecture at the largest university of economics which has a centuries-old history and to speak frankly and sincerely about the situation in the world and the region today as well as about the traditionally good cooperation between our two countries", said Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue who is also a Professor of Economics.

In his speech Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue gave a historical overview of the relations between Viet Nam and Bulgaria pointing out that Bulgaria was one of the first 10 countries in the world which had recognized Viet Nam's independence in February 1950 and that the President Ho Chi Minh's friendly visit to Bulgaria in August 1957 had laid the foundation for the fruitful cooperation between the two countries.

"Through many historical events, ups and downs, the Vietnamese people always remember and are deeply grateful for the valuable support and assistance that the Bulgarian people provide to Viet Nam", emphasized Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue.

The lecturer introduced Viet Nam's economy pointing out its rise in the recent years and examined the country's diplomatic relations and cooperation in a global scale.

In his presentation Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue outlined four directions in the bilateral relations and the development of cooperation between Viet Nam and Bulgaria. The first is to deepen the political and diplomatic relations, the second is to expand the economic investment and trade cooperation, and the third is related to the partnership in digital transformation and innovation. The fourth direction of cooperation is related to the encouragement of effective cooperation in traditional areas. In the field of education and training both sides will strengthen the cooperation in the education and research between the universities and research centers of both countries in areas where Bulgaria and Viet Nam have strengths and where is a necessity, such as health, biotechnology, agriculture, environment and natural resources management.

"On behalf of the high-level delegation of the National Assembly of Viet Nam, I would like to sincerely express thankfulness to the Bulgarian friends of various positions for their contribution to the friendly relations and development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries", said Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue.

After the lecture many questions were asked by the students, lecturers and guests who were mainly interested in the specifics of the cooperation between the two countries and in which areas is the greatest potential for the development of relations between Bulgaria and Viet Nam.

Mr. Vuong Dinh Hue replied that the cooperation could be developed in all aspects of the economy and social sphere, in key areas, in digitalization and cyber security. "A key factor for the sustainable development of relations between the two countries is the strong foundation we have, we are traditionally friendly countries, Bulgaria was one of the first countries which recognized Viet Nam's independence. Many Vietnamese students have studied here and they all love Bulgaria saying it is the land of roses. These are the prerequisites for strengthening and developing our good relations", said the Professor in Economics Vuong Dinh Hue.

In the "Golden Book of UNWE" Mr Vuong Dinh Hue wrote:

"It is a great honour for me to visit the UNWE, the most famous business university in Southeast Europe, the university where many of the most important Vietnamese personalities have studied as well as the former President of the National Parliament of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.

I express my gratitude for the opportunity to deliver a public lecture at your prestigious university and wish it even greater development and stability in the future.”
