The Social Partners from the Sectoral Organizations Approved a Statement on the Income Policy in the Education Sector

A meeting of the National Branch Syndicate of Higher Education and Science /VON-KNSB/, the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria, the National Representation of Student Councils /NRSC/ and the National Syndicate of Higher Education at Confederation of Labour Podkrepa was held at the UNWE.

The meeting was attended by the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov as Secretary General of the Council of Rectors of Higher Education Institutions in the Republic of Bulgaria, representing the organization, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Lilyana Valcheva, President of VON-KNSB, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valery Apostolov, President of National Syndicate of Higher Education at Confederation of Labour Podkrepa, Prof. Dr. Maria Nikolova, Deputy Chairwoman of the National Syndicate of Higher Education at Confederation of Labour Podkrepa, Ilian Chabukliisky, President of the Student Council at UNWE, Angel Stoykov, President of the Alumni Club at Student Council and students were also present.

The representatives of the social partners discussed and approved a statement on the income policy for the allocation of funds in the education sector.

The statement was signed in response to a letter from the Ministry of Education and Science /MES/ regarding the income policy.

In the document, the social partners call for fair and equal distribution of income in the sector and insist on the minimum monthly salary of not less than BGN 1 880 for the lowest academic position in state higher education institutions, to be determined by an Ordinance of the Council of Ministers on the basis of Article 92, para. 1 of the Higher Education Act, and a minimum scholarship of at least 120 BGN and a maximum scholarship of at least 200 BGN, as defined in Article 4/11/ of Resolution No. 90/2000, as amended and supplemented by State Gazette No.2 of 8 January 2001.
