Increased Interest in the Additional Matriculation Exams at the UNWE

162 secondary school pupils took part in the first of the two additionally announced preliminary exams in the format of the State Matriculation Exam in Bulgarian Language and Literature held at the UNWE. The results of exams will count for admission to our university. The next date for exam is 25 June.

"Welcome to our university! The UNWE has 103 years of history and traditions in education but it is a modern university, a leader in digitalization. The University provides modern and innovative specialties. You can choose from 53 specialities in different fields of economics, law, journalism, social and political sciences and sociology. We have also opened new Bachelor's degree programmes in the field of Informatics and Pedagogy", greeted the secondary school pupils the Vice-Rector for Educational Activities Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova and drew attention to the fact that the deadline for submitting documents for admission to the University is till 30 June and that the UNWE maintains the lowest student fees among all universities in Bulgaria. She also reminded that submitting the documents it is very important for the prospective students to arrange the specialities according to their desires.

"I strongly hope that I will see you on 18 September - the first day of the academic year at our university and I will welcome you already as students of the University of National and World Economy. I wish you success!", said to the future prospective students Prof. Alexandrova.

Dr. Ekaterina Deliverska, Director of the UNWE Educational Activities Directorate instructed the participants how the exam will be conducted in compliance with all the rules for State Matriculation Exam in Bulgarian Language and Literature. For the strict observance of the rules, an organization was set up with quaestors from Educational Activities Directorate.

The future prospective students had the opportunity to test their knowledge on the exam questions organized in three modules. They included multiple-choice, short free-response, extended free-response and text production tasks.

What students said after the exam

Nurgyul Aliyeva from Hristo Botev Secondary School, Nikopol: "I decided to take part in this preliminary exam because I want to correct my grade in Bulgarian Language and Literature to have a better chance when applying. I have chosen the specialty Law.

Maria Vladimirova from Kostinbrod, graduated from the 12. Tsar Ivan Asen II Secondary School, Sofia: "I am here to correct my grade in Bulgarian Language and Literature. I am going to apply and I have chosen two specialities - Human Resources and Law.

Simeon Sertov from the18. William Gladstone Secondary School, Sofia: I take part in this exam in order to raise my grade from the matriculation exam and to be accepted into a specialty, I have chosen Business Economics.

Martina Alexandrova from the 9. French Language High School Alphonse de Lamartine, Sofia: "The specialty I want to study is Law". The UNWE has a very good reputation and I think that the education at this university is of high quality, so I decided that I should not miss this chance”.

Vladimir Siromahov from the 166. Vasil Levsky Sports School, Sofia: I decided to take part in this exam to raise my grade in Bulgarian Language and Literature. I haven't chosen a speciality yet.


This new form of prospective student examination at the UNWE aims to support the orientation of the secondary school pupils by giving them the opportunity to test their knowledge in a real competitive environment.

The next preliminary exam in the format of the State Matriculation Exam in Bulgarian Language and Literature at the UNWE will be held on 25 June.
