Bonsist Sports Complex Obtained a Smart Lighting and Energy Efficiency System for 120 000 USD

An energy-saving smart lighting system was officially presented at the Bonsist Sports Complex. The total cost of the project is 120 000 USD provided in most part by the Taiwan Environmental Information Association /TEIA/ under a contract with the UNWE to implement a project on smart lighting, energy saving and transition to a healthy planet and a new digital world.

The contract signed online by the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and the President of the Association Dr. Chien-Chih Chen was already sealed in person by the signatures of the Rector and Mr. Sherman S. Kuo, representative of the Taiwan office in Greece. He pointed out that he could see great potential for developing a fruitful cooperation.   

"The installation of an intelligent lighting and energy efficiency system in Bonsist Sports Complex has been in preparation for two years with the support of the Ministry of Economy and Industry and the Ministry of e-Government of Bulgaria and with the great assistance of Prof. Dr. Dimitar Velev, Project Coordinator, who implemented the main contact between the UNWE and the TEIA and played an important role in the realization of the project", opened the event the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov. "UNWE, as the largest business university in the region, has undertaken a number of measures for energy efficiency, reducing harmful emissions and improving all conditions related to the educational process, and we have already implementing a project for the utilization of energy from renewable sources by building a photovoltaic installation for the production of electricity, the so-called green energy. So we greatly appreciate the generous donation to our university and express our thankfulness to the TEIA Foundation", said Prof. Dimitrov.

Mrs. Cynthia Chow, International Project Manager of the Taiwanese Foundation, expressed her contentment with the implementation of the project, pointing out that it is a successful step towards a fruitful future cooperation with a Bulgarian university such as UNWE - not only the largest business university but also a university with responsible leadership and a working team open to modern innovations. In her presentation she introduced the attendees in details with the main parameters, energy-saving capabilities, working principles and benefits of the newly installed smart lighting system.

After that there was a demonstration of the system capacity, the attendees had the opportunity to see lively the modern innovative facility in action and to assure in its advantages.

On behalf of UNWE at the ceremonial presentation of the smart lighting system in the hall were Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova, Vice Rector for Educational Activities, Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosen Kirilov, Vice Rector for Digitalization and Cybersecurity, Ilian Chabukliysky, Chairman of the Student Council and Angel Stoykov, Chairman of the Alumni Club of the Student Council.

Among the official guests at the event were the Rector of the University of Forestry-Sofia Corr. Member Prof. D.Sc. Ivan Alexandrov Iliev, Major General Grudy Angelov, Head of G. S. Rakovsky Military Academy, Daniel Parushev, Chairman of the National Representation of Student Councils in the Republic of Bulgaria /NRSC/. Among the attendees were also Plamen Kyuvliev, Head of the Bonsist Sports Complex, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Department, Gergana Kirilova, Director of the Rector's Office, Ina Balabanova, Director of the Human Resources Directorate, Krasimir Dimitrov, Director of the Legal and Regulatory Services Directorate, lecturers and officials.
