SDSN Bulgaria Participated in a High-Level Meeting on the Reform of the International Financial System

On 21 June 2023 a Forum on local authorities' access to long-term financing for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals was held in Paris. The event co-organized by SDSN /Sustainable Development Solutions Networks/ was hosted by the Mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo. The event was attended by Prof. Jeffrey Sacks, Director of the Center for Sustainable Development at Columbia University and President of SDSN, Prime Ministers, Ministers, Mayors of large world cities. The National Network SDSN Bulgaria was represented at the Forum by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Michail Musov, Co-Chairman of the Network and Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs of UNWE and by Chief Assist. Dr. Ekaterina Bogomilova, Director of the International Master's Degree Programme on Economics of Defence and Security with specialization in Nuclear Security.

The Forum aimed to provide substantive contribution to the international programme for long-term sustainable development financing, in particular to the issues of strengthening the international financing to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in cities and the world at large.

During the event a new Global Commission on Financing the Sustainable Development Goals for Cities was established headed by the Mayor of Paris.

Prof. Jeffrey Sachs officially presented the main results of the Sustainable Development Report 2023 which tracks the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals by all UN Member States during the year. You can learn more about the Report at sdsn.bg.

The moderator of the event was Guillaume Lafortune - the Vice President and Head of the SDSN Office in Paris who was the official guest at the opening of SDSN Bulgaria in Sofia on 5 June of the current year.

During the Forum Assoc. Prof. Dr. Michail Musov talked with Prof. Jeffrey Sachs. On behalf of Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Chairman of SDSN Bulgaria and Rector of UNWE, Assoc. Prof. Musov invited Prof. Sachs to participate in the Annual International Conference of SDSN Bulgaria at the UNWE in the autumn of the current year. Details and organization of the Conference are still to be finalized.
