UNWE Is A Participant in The First Project on Validation of Skills and Knowledge in Bulgaria

 “We are attending at a unique ceremony which shows as well as the role of a modern university such as UNWE in the entire system of knowledge as also the relation between the university education and business”, said the Rector Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev at the opening of the Closing Conference on the project ValidAid at the Sheraton hotel. “A university with respect to itself should cover the entire process of education - not only Bachelors, Masters, Doctoral students but also the validation of skills and knowledge and their up building”, outlined the Rector.

Statty Stattev thanked for participation in the project to Violina Marinova, Chief Executive Director of DSK Bank and member of the Trustees Council of UNWE, to Deyan Daneshki, Chief Executive Director of Bulgarian Posts Ltd., to Andrey Evtimov, Executive Director of Doverie Briko JSC and to Deyan Pushkarov, Chairman of the National Agency for Professional Education and Training and an alumnus of UNWE.

The project objective is to be validated the skills and knowledge for improvement of the positions of low qualified employees at the labour market. It is realized by the Institute of Post-Graduate Studies at UNWE within the frames of Long-Life Learning Programme, financed by the European Union. In the implementation of the project participated six countries – Austria, Bulgaria, Island, France, Lithuania and Portugal, international universities, research centers, educational and consultative organizations.

“We drew an experience from Island”, outlined Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elka Vasileva, Head of the project. “We started by little steps – three focus groups. We elaborated methods for identification and validation of competencies, acquired at the working place to be supported the low qualified employees. It will help them to develop their abilities and to find a better realization at the labour market.”

It is elaborated within the frames of the project a validating packet which will be useful for banks, trade companies, information technologies and communications.

Assoc. Prof. Vasileva said that Bulgaria still doesn`t have worked out a system which is applicable for validation of competencies acquired in the process of informal or independent training.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marcho Markov, Director of the Institute for Postgraduate Studies bestowed certificates to successfully graduated representatives of the partners, the companies DSK Bank, Doverie Briko JSC and Bulgarian Posts Ltd.
