The Winners in the Largest Sports Tournament Organized at Our University Were Awarded
At an official ceremony at Bonsist Sports Complex the winners in the largest Sports Tournament of UNWE were awarded. The event is organized for a consecutive year by the Student Council at UNWE in cooperation with the Physical Education and Sport Department.

The programme of current edition of the Tournament included 7 sports disciplines: football, basketball, table tennis, fitness, swimming, sports climbing and chess. More than 300 students took part in the competition.

The Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov welcomed the participants and the organizers of the Tournament and emphasized, "I greet the participants who have fought and presented themselves with dignity as well as the organizers of the Tournament for turning this event into a tradition for the University. Play sports, sports develops many qualities, gives a lot, sometimes it requires a little effort but as you know it is the same in the learning process - without effort there is no result. I wish future success to all the athletes, keep it up, let`s next year have more competitions and more participants!"

"I am sure that every one of you who has participated has shown its best possible, I am also sure that by doing sports you are building your leadership qualities, tempering your will and this will help you later in life to build your personalities and succeed in business and society", said Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice-Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies.
"I am extremely impressed by the fruitful work that the Student Council and the Physical Education and Sport Department have managed to do together. It is what has made this edition of the Tournament the biggest ever, involving 7 sports. Congratulations to all the winners! Let the motivation not leave you!", emphasized the Chairman of the Student Council at UNWE Angel Stoykov.
"On behalf of the largest student organization in Bulgaria - the National Representation of Student Councils, I would like to greet you for your participation in the Tournament! Sport is extremely important and the more active athletes you are, the more active students and people you will be. Keep doing sports and be the good example!", said to the students the Chairmant of the National Representation of Student Councils /NRSC/ Daniel Parushev.
"I'm extremely happy with this nassiveness we had, bringing a tradition back to the University. Sport gives a lot! I want you all to carry the sporting drive and desire to win into real life. Let this help you!", said the Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov.
The ceremony continued with the awarding of the winners in the individual disciplines. All winners in the individual sports were awarded cash prizes: for the first place - BGN 300, for the second - BGN 200 and for the third - BGN 100.
The table tennis winners were the first to receive their prizes. The awards were bestowed by Sen. Lect. Dr. Elena Moneva. At the first place is Maria Mineva, at the second place - Victoria Stoyanova and at the third place - Roxana Vlasy. The men's Tournament was very contested, prizes got Tassin Kashev - third place, Atanas Pisthalov - second place, and the winner in men`s table tennis Tournament was Michel Tataryan.
The next awarded winners were chess competitors. The awards were bestowed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dragomir Stefanov, Secretary General for Social and Living Issues of Undergraduates and International Students. The winner of this year's chess tournament was Christian Slaveykov, the second place was for Ivaylo Yordanov and the third place - Daniel Ganev.
In women's fitness Tournament, Silvia Slavcheva occupied the first place, Tanya Tacheva – the second place and Alexandra Valeva - the third place. In men's fitness Tournament the winner was Nikolay Ivanov, the second place was for Krum Kalinski and the third place - Alexander Pekov. The medals were awarded by the Chairman of the Student Council at UNWE Angel Stoykov.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov, Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department, awarded the prizes to the winners in sport climbing. The winner in the women's competition with a time of 23 seconds and 4 hundredths was Katrin Korsachka, the second place with a time of 29 seconds and 6 hundredths was taken by Ioana Boyadzhieva, the third place with a time of 29 seconds and 9 hundredths was taken by Celine Zekky.
In men's competition in sport climbing the first place won Nikolay Ivanov with a time of 14 seconds and 3 hundredths, the second place - Angel Balashev with a time of 18 seconds and 1 hundredth and the third place - Michail Angelov with a time of 18 seconds and 7 hundredths.
Daniel Parushev awarded the medals to the winners in swimming. The winner in women's swimming competition was Maria Lilkova, at the second place was Kiara Stoyanova, the third place - Margarita Gurkova. In the men's category Atanas Hristov took the first place, Alex Kondov finished second and Christian Arabadzhiev - third.
Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova and Prof. Dr. Spas Stavrev, lecturer at the Physical Education and Sport Department, awarded the medals to the basketball winners. Two individual awards were also given in this sport and they were for the best player in women's Tournament - Patritsia Balova from the team "The Matsinkite 2" and the best player in men's Tournament - Nikolay Ninov from the team "The Derman Tarikats". The winner in women's basketball Tournament is the team of "Matsinkite 1". They received a cash prize of 1 200 BGN. The second place occupied the team of "The Matsinkite 2", and they received a cash prize of 800 BGN. In men's basketball Tournament the first place won the team "The Derman Tarikats". They also received a cash prize of 1 200 BGN. The second place won the team “Nitros”, they also took a cash prize of 800 BGN and the third place won the team “Berlin”, they received a cash prize of 400 BGN.

The most awaited moment was the awarding of the football teams. The awards were bestowed to the winners by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov and Angel Stoykov. Before the team ranking the individual awards will first be bestowed to the players in the categories "Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament" and "Best Player of the Tournament". "Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament" was won by Miroslav Tasev from the team "The Fighters of 33". "Best Player of the Tournament" was David Dimitrov from the team "Edni Students".
The top three teams from the UNWE 2023 Football Tournament: this year's champion is the team “Edni Students”. They received a team prize of BGN 2 400. The second place is for the team "The Fighters of 33", they received a team prize of BGN 1 600 and the third place is for the team "Chetnitsite", they received a team prize of BGN 800.
