An Open Doors Day Was Held at the University

An Open Doors Day was held at the UNWE. It provoked great interest among the secondary school pupils.

The Rector's Managing body and the university lecturers welcomed pupils from the secondary schools in Sofia and in the country. The most active participants in the initiative were the pupils from the National Trade and Banking High School and the National Finance and Business High School in Sofia, which are also member schools of the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria /AESB/ as well as the 2nd Secondary School "Emilian Stanev".

In the framework of the event it was opened the University Week of the Book and the high school pupils had the chance to visit the book stalls as well as to attend some of the presentations of books.

During the event in Maxima Aula it was held "Rector's Hour" where pupils had the opportunity to find out what offers the largest business university in Bulgaria as well as to get answers to all the questions they were interested in. 

The Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov presented the Vice Rectors - Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova, Vice Rector for Educational Activity, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihail Musov, Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs, Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova, Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rosen Kirillov, Vice Rector for Digitalization and Cybersecurity, Secretaries General and lecturers from different Departments at UNWE.

The Rector outlined that the UNWE has 103-years of history and the practical training occupies a leading place in the programmes. "The University maintains close contacts with employers and develops long-term partnerships with the business for conducting internship and mentoring programmes by developing student entrepreneurship", said Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and added that the UNWE students have the opportunity to implement mobility under the Erasmus+ Programme as well as to become part of the elite university network ENGAGE.EU in partnership with 9 leading European universities in the field of economics and social sciences. "We are proud of our graduates who are part of the business elite and the management of the country", said Prof. Dimitrov.

Prof. Dr. Matilda Alexandrova answered students' questions related to the admission requirements, application procedures, exams, fees, procedures and enrolment documents. She paid attention to the fact that the UNWE will not increase student fees for the academic year 2023/2024 both for students who study under the state order quota and for paid tuition.

The Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation and Student Policies Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova outlined that the UNWE has 12 student dormitories and three of them are fully renovated. She pointed out that the UNWE would have the most modern library in the country after its renovation is finished.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ivan Stoilov, Head of the Physical Education and Sports Department, presented to students the opportunities for sports saying that due to Bonsist Sports Complex the UNWE has one of the best sports facilities. Students can choose from 12 sports, and those who have participated in sports clubs and have outstanding sports achievements are included in the UNWE representative teams.

The meeting ended with a discussion about the opportunities offered by the University and the ways of admission.

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian, Chairwoman of the Association of Economic Schools in Bulgaria and Atanas Dimitrov, Director of the Inter-University Center for Career Development, presented to the high school pupils key places of UNWE such as the Ceremonial Hall, the Start-up Hub and the Training Courtroom.

Maria Bozhkova from the Rector's Office Directorate gave the pupils leaflets and materials with up-to-date information about the Bachelor degree programmes, deadlines and the application procedure.

The students were also able to experience the real learning process. They attended a lecture on the discipline Administrative Process led by Chief Assist. Dr. Ilonka Pesheva-Goranova, Scientific Secretary of the Public Legal Studies Department and lecturer at the same department.
