UNWE on the Road to Green Energy Constructing Photovoltaics Which Will Be Paid by Savings of Electricity

The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Mr. Tihomir Bankov, Manager of Prostream Group and Mr. Stanimir Smilkov, Manager of Bureau Veritas Bulgaria, signed a contract with guaranteed result (ESCO contract) for the implementation of a public procurement for the utilization of energy from renewable sources through the construction of a photovoltaic installation for electricity generation.

The project will be implemented in two phases. In the first stage, a rooftop photovoltaic installation and a parking lot photovoltaic installation for electricity generation will be designed and constructed in 8 months and in the next stage, performance monitoring, maintenance and repayment of the investment will be carried out on the account of the electricity generation achieved - these activities will be borne by Prostream Group. The financing of the project in the amount of more than BGN 2 million is provided by the Prostream Group and the investment will be paid at the expense of the electricity savings generated by the operation of the photovoltaic plant!

The construction supervision of the project will be implemented by Bureau Veritas Bulgaria.

The Rector Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov outlined that the UNWE is one of the first universities in Bulgaria paying serious attention to the implementation of green energy. "This contract is very actual having in mind the energy crisis. This project is important to us because we go in the direction of environmental protection, energy independence and reduced bills." He said that it took the team a long time to work out the contracts and pointed out that he counts on an honest partnership work.

Mr. Tihomir Bankov also pointed out: "I am glad that we will be partners in such an important and interesting project. The company has a very long presence on the market and experience in building such objects. For years it has been worked on the sustainable management requirements and for reducing the carbon footprint - all that will come to you with the implementation of a project like this. The direct effects for you will be great with the reduced costs but there will also have other benefits. The team will give their best to implement the contract perfectly".

Mr. Stanimir Smilkov outlined that he has graduated from the UNWE so he was excited for being here again. "Bureau Veritas Bulgaria is a company with a strong presence in the market.
