The UNWE will start training camps on creating successful business enterprises within two weeks - from 16 to 27 January 2023 - at the UNWE Regional Centre for Distance Learning /RCDL/ in Haskovo. The training will be led by practitioners of start-up entrepreneurship development, lecturers at the UNWE.

The training camps are part of the implementation of the project Promoting Entrepreneurship by Supporting Promising Innovative Ideas Through Pre-Incubating Mechanisms /CO WORKING/ in which UNWE is a partner along with the Faculty of Economics of Aristotle at University of Thessaloniki, the Alexandria Innovation Zone JSC in Thessaloniki and the National Company Industrial Zones JSC. The project has an objective to encourage not only the students of UNWE but also the entrepreneurs from the region of Haskovo to increase their business potential and to develop entrepreneurial initiatives in the cross-border areas of Bulgaria and Greece. It is funded by the INTERREG Greece-Bulgaria Programme 2014-2020 and so far five master classes have been held in 2022.

"The target group are the residents of Haskovo region, of course, we rely mostly on our students but we want to attract people who have ideas to develop their own business. The objective of these trainings is not to create a lot of start-up companies but rather to build self-awareness that a successful business is possible in the cross-border regions of Bulgaria and Greece, to explore opportunities for cooperation, joint activities with people or companies between the two regions and on this basis to look for the innovation in their business ideas", said Prof. Dr. Nikolay Shterev from the Industrial Business Department, Head of the project from the UNWE.

On 16 January 2023 at 5.30 p.m. at the training center of UNWE in Haskovo will start the first training camp for the creation of start-up business enterprises and during it will be applied the Lean Startup methodology of Eric Ries for the creation of start-up companies or development of a new service or a new product from the existing businesses. The second module is related to the creation of the innovative business model. The third training camp concerns the topic of validating conceptual designs for the creation of start-ups or new services. Through these three modules it is aimed that the participants will be able to learn to sift out the valuable from the non-valuable business ideas, to be able to skip the so-called "valley of death" where unproductive projects die. For the purpose, a virtual company will be created during the training through which the participants will have the opportunity to discover the problems and ways to overcome them following the entire methodology of the birth of the innovative idea and its implementation. The participants will use the digital classroom built at the Centre for Distance Learning in Haskovo.

In the second week, the fourth and fifth modules will take place - developing the idea and the business plan and assessing the quality of the business idea. The training will be led by Dr. Ilija Kerezev and Dr. Silvia Georgieva from the UNWE who will assist in screening the attractive ideas as the main task will be to generate at least five quality ideas that can jump the "valley of death".

All people of Haskovo who are willing to learn how to start a new business or how to implement a new idea in an existing business are invited to the training.

The results of the work done during the first cycle of the project will be presented during an Information Day to be held on 31 January 2023. The best business ideas will be presented and certificates will be awarded to those who have completed the training during the first phase of the CO-WORKING project.
