He talked with the students at the event and outlined: "The European Union undoubtedly gives a lot of support to the member-states in terms of education especially through this Programme. It is very successful and it has become emblematic and turned into a symbol of the European integration. The aim is to attract more students to take advantage of the opportunity for intercultural exchange. Erasmus+ Programme is an investment in knowledge and we as a university strive to develop mobility activities because it adds value to the learning experience for young people".

The Erasmus+ Programme Open Doors Day event is initiated by the European Commission. “We want to bring the Erasmus+ Programme to the attention of young people who have been in online learning for a long time and to present them what the Programme provides. The deadline for undergraduates and Doctoral students to apply on the Erasmus+ Programme is 16 October. At the moment 56 students from the UNWE are on mobility under the Programme, and the number of foreign students who has come to the University is 65 and the largest part of them are French. Bulgarian students most often prefer to implement mobility in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Poland and the Czech Republic", said Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kamelia Assenova and outlined: "Erasmus+ Programme gives you the opportunity not only to study, but to communicate with your colleagues from other countries, to travel in the interesting company of your peers, to explore new places and to make unforgettable memories. The advantage of these mobility is that it allows you to travel and explore many places in an easy and inexpensive way".

"Of course, continuing your studies is the main purpose of mobility on the Erasmus+ Programme. It will give you the opportunity to add to your knowledge and skills acquired at UNWE, to compare the subjects and the ways of teaching and assessment at our university with other universities and to choose even those courses that still miss here and you want to pursue a career in this particular field. If you want to work in the future for a big company and have a good salary, the student mobility on the Erasmus+ Programme is for you", added Assoc. Prof. Assenova.

In the frameworks of the event, a quiz was held on the UNWE Facebook page and the winners received prizes from the University Center for Students and Lecturers Mobility.

About the Student Mobility

There are two types of mobility - for study purposes and mobility for practice.

The student mobility for study purposes lasts for one semester or more /from 3 to 12 months/ and takes place in a partner university in the European Union or outside it /see the partner universities on the UNWE website - section "Mobility"/. To find the most suitable programme or university for you, it is a good idea to consider in advance:

  • the study programmes offered by the host university and how similar they are to your study programme at the UNWE;
  • the language of teaching at the host university.

One of the biggest advantages of student mobility for study purposes is that it allows you to gain experience from another country, another university and way of studying, a different culture and all that without having to pay tuition fees at the host institution. You continue to be a student of UNWE and on your return the credits you have earned in the relevant subjects will be recognized by our University.

The Erasmus+ Programme provides financial support to enable students to gain innovative knowledge, new skills and cross-cultural experience that could be invaluable for them when applying for a job.
