The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov Took Part in the Consultative Council on the European Green Deal

The Rector of the UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov participated in the Consultative Council on the European Green Deal which was held in the Council of Ministers under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Prime Minister for Climate Policies and Minister of Environment and Water Borislav Sandov. Prof. Dimitrov is a member of the Council whose objective is to set the framework for the upcoming reforms and investments for decarbonisation and modernisation of the Bulgarian economy.    

"Tackling the climate change is of primary importance for the future of Europe and the world and it is the largest environmental challenge today. So it is important to continue the process of reducing the carbon emissions into the atmosphere, especially the carbon dioxide. The effective decarbonisation needs innovative ideas in this sector. Our objective is to try to achieve carbon neutrality at the lowest possible cost. Our university is working purposefully on the topic. This year we held several scientific conferences focused on these issues. We also officially announced our project "Green University", said the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov, one of the leading national security experts.

At the meeting of the Consultative Council on the European Green Deal it became clear that the EU budget foresees over 15 billion leva for Bulgaria. With this money our country should implement reforms and invest in solutions contributing to energy independence and climate neutrality of our economy.

In the sessions took also part two other Rectors - Assoc. Evgeny Stanimirov, Rector of the University of Economics, Varna and Prof. Dr. Dobry Yarkov, Rector of Trakia University, Stara Zagora.
