UNWE Held the First ENGAGE.EU International Scientific Conference for Young Scientists

The UNWE as a partner in the European University ENGAGE.EU hosted the First ENGAGE.EU International Scientific Conference for Young Scientists on the Business Environment in Europe: Addressing Societal Challenges & Developing New Perspectives.

"it is a wonderful initiative by the project team and we are very happy that this project gains speed developing additional activities which means that this is a living project, a living institution of our already 9 universities that have joined forces around the creation of a leading European University“, these were the words the Rector of the UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov and member of the Board of Rectors of ENGAGE.EU opened the Conference and welcomed the attendees in the hall and online.

Reminding the accession of the two new universities from Spain and Finland to the consortium last month the Rector paid attention to the exceptional communication environment that is created in the interactions, the cheerful and friendly attitude that accompanies the meetings. "These good emotions also give an excellent intensity to our cooperation and oblige us to fulfil the expectations by providing excellent results of our joint work." Prof. Dimitrov also pointed out: "Today's Conference is typical for our business universities and concerns the main objectives of the project. Let`s continue our efforts to improve education, to increase publication activity in scientific journals in Europe and I hope that we will also establish a journal of ENGAGE.EU and that our cooperation will strengthen more and more".

"This Conference is a very special ENGAGE.EU initiative as it is our first joint forum aimed at young scientists and that is why I am very happy that the UNWE is its host", welcomed the participants Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mihail Musov, Vice Rector for Research and International Affairs and Coordinator of ENGAGE.EU initiatives for Bulgaria. Assoc. Prof. Musov reminded that the idea of organizing such a conference which is outside the project activities was initially received with skepticism by some of the partners but during the meeting of all Vice-Rectors of the universities in the Alliance was unanimously decided to actively support the development of young researchers. "The Board of Rectors and the Executive Committee of ENGAGE.EU believe that a focus on young researchers is key to the future of European universities", emphasised Assoc. Prof. Musov.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Venelin Boshnakov, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Informatics and Statistics, also welcomed the participants. "We are extremely happy to see so many participants in person. I hope we will create a wonderful atmosphere for you." He introduced the first participant in the Conference - Prof. James Small from the University of Tilburg who has accepted to deliver a keynote report on the ENGAGE.EU Alliance: Research Networks to set the beginning of discussion on the development of Alliance's research network.

Prof. James Small from the University of Tilburg expressed his thankfulness for the excellent initiative and the wonderful coordination of the event which was implemented so quickly and for the efforts made to involve young scientists in the Alliance. "The topic of the report is a passion of mine and I will review some key points that I think are important for the science to be able to serve the society, to offer solutions and provide perspectives to cope with the challenges facing society." He formulated the challenges, examined the opportunities for gathering real information and data and gave suggestions for developing the Alliance's research network.

The First ENGAGE.EU International Scientific Conference on the Business Environment in Europe: Addressing Societal Challenges & Developing New Perspectives was held in two days and presented topics related to the sustainable development and innovation, European business and development of European societies, prospects for European integration, etc.

The Conference is organized within the frameworks of the university contract for partial funding of scientific forums № NID NF-16-A/2022.
