The EU Commissioner Maria Gabriel Visited the UNWE

The European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth Maria Gabriel visited the University of National and World Economy and met with the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov.

In the meeting participated also the Minister of Education Acad. Nikolay Denkov. The European Strategy for Higher Education, support for young scientists, building the European Education Area and other issues related to digitalization, cyber security and stimulating student entrepreneurship were discussed during the meeting.

The Commissioner Maria Gabriem and Minister Nikolay Denkov got acquainted with the work of the newly opened Start-up Office at the UNWE. It is the first of its kind university centre in support of student entrepreneurship.

The European Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth, Maria Gabriel, wrote in the UNWE Golden Book:

In the Large Conference Hall of UNWE Maria Gabriel met with the Rectors of the universities of the European ENGAGE.EU Alliance - UNWE, University of Mannheim, University of Toulouse 1 Capitole, LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, Vienna University of Economics and Business, University of Tilburg, Norwegian School of Economics, Ramon Llull University from Spain and Hanken School of Economics from Finland.

Maria Gabriel welcomed the Rectors and exposed her position on the topics discussed: "It was very important for me to hear your ideas on these issues and your vision for the future of higher education in Europe. I am thankful to the Rectors for the interactive discussion, the support and the ideas shared on how European universities could deepen their cooperation, unite knowledge and resources and stimulate innovations to support the green and digital transition. I would like to express my thankfulness also to the Rector of the UNWE Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov for initiating the meeting and the useful ideas discussed".
