This year Sofia celebrates 130 years since the Bulgarian writer Stoyan Mihailovsky composed the poem which turned into the anthem “Go Forth, O People Reborn!” /in 1892/. 10 years later /in 1902/ when the composer Panayot Pipkov wrote the music to the anthem it was sung massively in all Bulgarian schools.

The official ceremony this year began with the mass performance of the anthem “Go Forth, O People Reborn!”. It was sung by an assembled choir of pupils from Sofia schools conducted by Maestro Slavil Dimitrov. Then the anthem was recited by the actress Silvia Lulcheva.
