Lawyer's Week

The Law Faculty /LF/ and the Alumni Club of Law Faculty Graduates at the UNWE organizeа Lawyer's Week for students of speciality Law. It is the fourth consecutive forum for professional orientation of students and it is held in the period 16-18 November 2021. The objective of the event is to assist future lawyers studying at the University to form direction of their future professional development. The solemn opening of the event took place in the Large Conference Hall of UNWE and the participants joined online through the platform MS Teams.

"It is an initiative that we continue so that colleagues can get acquainted with the various opportunities in their profession as well as to know what could expect them after their graduation. We have gathered specialists in the relevant fields and will be able to gain a lot of experience from them and to hear real practical cases", outlined Ivaylo Enchev.

"Teaching law at our university has a 100-year tradition formalized exactly 30 years ago with the establishment of the Law Faculty. Up to date it has established itself among the best facuties in the country. The growing number of prospective students who want to study law at our university speaks for itself. Graduates manage to find professional realization on high positions both in business and in various government institutions. Their preparation is excellent due to the efforts of their lecturers who are leading experts in various fields of legal science", commented the Vice Rector for Institutional and Business Cooperation Prof. Dr. Tsvetana Stoyanova /in the picture below/.

Four years is enough time for the event to take a worthy place in the education of our students and for their complex development as lawyers. It is an endless process helped not only by us, the lecturers but also by the experience of our colleagues who can share their adversities, experience and success. All of them are an illustrative example of how a lawyer should grow and that is why I wish success to the Forum", emphasized the Dean Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zahary Tormanov. He appealed the students to help each other and to constantly share their experience for being useful both to the society and to their own development.

Judge Vladimirov took part in the opening of the Forum telling the audience about his professional career, his experience as a lawyer and the hardships he went through: "It is very important to be aware of the opportunities provided by professional realization that`s why this Forum deserves great admirations. The legal profession provides opportunities for realization in all spheres of public life. The good preparation of the young person allows practice both in the legal professions and to be a successful manager and head of many units. In any case your focus shouldt be based on good knowledge, theoretical preparation and further development.” He expressed thankfulness for the opportunity to be part of Lawyer's Week and wished success to the event.

After the opening of the Forum the presentation of the speakers and guests continued online in the plafform MS Teams. More than 140 current and former law undergraduates had applied for participation. To present different profiles of the legal profession in the event take part also14 leading companies in various fields and 8 lecturers, graduates of Law Faculty who have successful realization in practice. Companies providing legal services or developing successful legal departments will acquaint the audience with career opportunities, internships and the specifics of their activities.

During the first day of Lawyer's Week the participants had the opportunity to meet Marian Dervenkov, Head of the Legal Division at Svilengrad Municipality, Plamen Nedev, Legal Adviser in the Private Enforcement Agent Office, Dragomir Markov, Junior Investigator in the District Investigation Division at District Prosecutor's Office - Veliko Tarnovo as wel as to hear a lecture on Interview for a Job with lecturer Atanas Dimitrov - Director of the Interuniversity Center for Career Development at UNWE.

On the second day the participants met virtually with Desislava Petrova, Prosecutor at Sofia City Prosecutor's Office, Ivalina Marinova, Senior Legal Adviser at the Ministry of Justice, Yordanka Chakarova, Lawyer at the Sofia Bar Association, Dimitar Grigorov, KYC Specialist at Tide Platform Ltd. as well as to hear a lecture about the student internships at the UNWE Law Laculty.

The third and last day of Lawyer's Week was dedicated to a meeting of students with leading companies, including: PricewaterhouseCoopers Bulgaria /PwC/; Bayer Bulgaria; Cargotech Bulgaria; Popov, Arnaudov & Partners Law Firm; Allianz Bulgaria Insurance Company; United Bulgarian Bank; Professional Association of Mediators in Bulgaria; Deloitte Bulgaria; NDS /Nexo/; Ciela Norma; UniCredit Bulbank; KBC Bulgaria; Bulgarian Association of Accident Victims; LTA Consulting.
