An open lecture by Mr. Masahiko Uotani, President and CEO of the company No.1 for beauty in Japan – Shiseido which has deserved its place in the world economy was held in hybrid format at the UNWE. The event was organized by our university, the Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Bulgaria and the Japan-Bulgaria Business Association /JBBA/.

Lively in the Large Conference Hall in the opening of the event took part the Rector of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, H. E. Hiroshi Narahira, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Republic of Bulgaria and Mr. Dimitar Naydenov, Head of Communications of the Japan-Bulgaria Business Association /JBBA/.

The moderator for the event and the ensuing discussion was Boyko Vassilev, host of the BNT publicist programme "Panorama". Mr. Masahiko Uotani joined the event online from his office in Japan.

Mr. Boyko Vassilev introduced President and CEO Mr. Masahiko Uotani pointing out that it is a lecture in the name of beauty and the people who have dedicated their lives to it. He told an interesting story emphasizing that the great discovery of Japanese cosmetics is the Bulgarian rose oil and that beauty is part of the world economy.

"It is a pleasure for me to welcome you to the UNWE virtually and in person. Meetings in these difficult times are extremely important. I'm sure everyone is interested how Japanese business companies have managed with the crisis. We have many international partners and our relations with them are extremely important for us so it`s an honour to me that we have the opportunity to implement this lecture", outlined Prof. Dimitrov opening the event.

H. E. Hiroshi Narahira expressed his thankfulness to all participants in the organization of the lecture: "We are honoured to present such an important event as part of the Japanese Culture Days. Our cooperation with Bulgaria is extremely important for us and that`s why I would like to express my thankfulness to the hosts of the event - UNWE for the implementation of this business lecture".

On behalf of Mr. Vladislav Mihov, Chairman of the Board of the Japanese-Bulgaria Business Association /JBBA/, Mr. Dimitar Naydenov greeted the organizers of the event: “JBBA has certain objectives for the development of cooperation between Japan and Bulgaria. This lecture is a proof of the successful fulfillment of these objectives. Thank you very much for the opportunity to carry out this event".

"I would like to be physically with you but because of Covid-19 measures I have to join online. Our company enjoys a great interest on the Bulgarian market and Shiseido products are offered in many places so far. The power is in the people and in the trust we have built in them. The cooperation between Bulgaria and Japan is longstanding and good. I hope we will have more and more occasions to meet each other", began his lecture Mr. Masahiko Uotani.

Mr. Franck Marilly, President & CEO of Shiseido EMEA took part in the lecture online from France pointing out that everyone in the company is working for a better future: “This event makes us feel closer to the Bulgarian market and in it we can develop opening many new opportunities”.

Mr. Masahiko Uotani continued his lecture with a presentation about the history of the company and the changes over the years as well as the plans for its future development. There were many questions from the audience concerning the international development, the company's success in the market, its values ??and the development of the brand in the European market. Mr. Uotani was happy to respond to everyone mentioning that the most important thing for him is the constant contact with people both employees and customers. He told that at Shiseido everyone works for a better future protecting the environment and trying to offer the highest quality on the market.
