UNWE Received Valuable Scientific Work by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dobrev - the Patriarch of Accounting Science

In the presence of the UNWE Academic Leadership, Mr. Boyko Kostov - Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Bulgaria (ICPA), officially awarded to the Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov an exact copy of the Doctoral dissertation by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dobrev - one of the founders of UNWE as well as a founder of the Accounting Department.

The dissertation is on the Agricultural Credit Cooperatives in Bulgaria and it has been defended in 1911 at the Friedrich-Alexander-Erlangen University.

The valuable donation comes to the UNWE due to the good collaboration between the Head of the Accounting and Analysis Department Prof. Dr. Snezhana Basheva and the Chairman of ICPA Mr. Boyko Kostov. The Deputy Head of the Department - Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian also stands behind the importance of the donation act.

The phototype copy is issued by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants which has obtained the original scientific work from the grandson of the doyen of Bulgarian accounting science.

At the presentation Prof. Dr. Snezhana Basheva pointed out: "Finally this scientific work is in its home so now we can touch to the research spirit of Prof. Dobrev. I would compare it to Armstrong's "small step" because the defense of his doctorate 110 years ago had been the event that set the beginning of the flight into science for the young man from Cotel and enabled him to develop and reach his fundamental insights in the field of accounting science and the economy of enterprise".

Prof. Dr. Daniela Feschian outlined that it is the first defended scientific work by a Bulgarian in the field of Accounting 110 years ago in Germany. "Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dobrev not only said that "accounting is not a craft, but a flag that we should proudly wave", he also embodied in his work the theory that accounting is a fundamental science and without it we can not be managers, managerial professionals, economists in general. I am excited because it is not just a scientific work in accounting, it is the history of our university", emphasized Prof. Feschiyan who is also Chairwoman of the UNWE Control Council.
