The Chief Ombudsman of Turkey Visited the UNWE

During his official visit to Bulgaria to hold talks with representatives of various institutions the Chief Ombudsman of Turkey Mr. Seref Malkoç visited also the UNWE. He met with the Rector of the University Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov in the Ceremonial Hall. The visit was held at the invitation of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ana Djumalieva, Chairperson of the Commission for Protection against Discrimination, who signed a bilateral cooperation agreement with Mr. Seref Malkoç during his previous visit to Bulgaria in August 2019. The Chief Turkish Ombudsman was accompanied by Fatma Benli Yalç?n, Ombudsman, Güniz Ates, Head of EU and International Relations Division, Vessel Shirin, Chief of Ombudsman Office. By the UNWE party the meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. Miroslava Rakovska, Vice-Rector for Educational Activity of the University.

The Rector Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov welcomed the Chief Turkish Ombudsman and introduced the University pointing out the huge number of UNWE professors and alumni who have participated and participate in the state government. He outlined that the UNWE is one of the fastest digitizing universities which has helped to keep the learning process going on during the COVID-19 pandemic and has opened up many opportunities for new international partnerships. Prof. Dimitrov emphasized that the UNWE has cooperation with many foreign universities so it is open for establishing joint educational programmes. He also pointed out that the position of Ombudsman has existed and developed at the university for 10 years.

The Chief Turkish Ombudsman Mr. Seref Malkoç presented the objectives and activities of the institution represented by him stating that it cooperates with the Turkish universities, has contacts with academia and sends its representatives to participate in conferences, deliver public lectures and meet with students. "We know about the contribution of UNWE to the public life in Bulgaria and the excellent preparation that the University provides to its students. Universities has an indispensable place in the life of a country, they have their leadership positions, broaden the horizons of the people and contribute to the overall development of the country. That`s why it`s an honour for me to visit the UNWE - the oldest and most stable business university in Bulgaria", said Mr. Malkoç. He defined the trade and economic cooperation between Turkey and Bulgaria as a foundation for the development of good neighbourhood relations between the two countries in all areas.

The Chief Ombudsman of Turkey was invited to write a message in the UNWE Golden Book and after that he gave presents to the Rector as sign of gratitude for the warm welcome

In his turn the Rector of UNWE awarded to the Turkish Ombudsman a book about the wonders of Bulgaria - part of the new project for digital tourist routes between the UNWE and the Wonders of Bulgaria Foundation as well as a jubilee coin "100 years UNWE" (in the pictures below).

The guests visited the "UNWE Wall of Fame" where can be seen the huge number of UNWE professors and alumni who have participated in the government of Bulgaria since the foundation of the University a century ago
