Drawing of Lots for the Jubilee XXV Tennis Tournament for Rector`s Cup was Held Online

The drawing of lots for the jubilee XXV Tennis Tournament for Rector`s Cup was held online. The event was broadcast live on the Facebook page of the Physical Education and Sport Department: UNWE-Sportdepartment.

In the drawing of lots took part Assoc. Prof. Dr. Spas Stavrev, Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department, Prof. Dr. Georgy Yankov, Chairman of St. George the Victoriuos Academic Sport Club of UNWE, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Markov, Sport Director of the Tournament and Lect. Dr. Iva Gigova.

Prof. Yankov /in the picture below/ told about the establishment of St. George the Victoriuos Academic Sports Club of UNWE in 1996. He clarified that over the last four years the Tournament has been officially organized jointly by the UNWE Sports Club and the Physical Education and Sport Department.

Assoc. Prof. Dimitrov /in the picture below/ explained that in the current year the Tournament will have 3 options: tournament for couples, individual tournament for men and for the first time – individual tournament for women. The matches will be played up to 10 games, the final matches will be two of three games. In the tournament for couples 28 participants have already been enrolled. In the individual tournament for men 16 competitors have already been enrolled and for the individual tournament for women – there have been 5 competitors. The Tournament will start in March 2021 and will continue till the beginning of November 2021 due to the compliance with anti-epidemic measures, clarified Assoc. Prof. Dimitrov.
