UNWE Expands the Academic Cooperation with Russian Universities

On 28 November of the current year an Agreement of Academic Exchange and Memorandum of Understanding between the University of National and World Economy and the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation-Moscow were signed by the Rectors of both academic institutions Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev and Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Mikhail Eskindarov (in the pictures below).

The documents provision joint scientific research, mutual visits of lecturers in order to teach, enhance their qualification and exchange scientific research experience, participate in scientific conferences, symposia and seminars organized by both universities, exchange experience and information about educational programmes, teaching methodology and approaches applied in the educational process, prepare and publish joint scientific research, support the academic and cultural exchange of students, etc.

During the Conference on How to Grow Fast: the Foreign Experience of Economic Breakthroughs that was held in the frameworks of the 5th International Forum of the Financial University: How to Break into the Top Five of the Leading World Economies, the Rector Prof. Stattev delivered report on the Interaction between the Financial and Economic Development (in the picture below).

During his visit in Moscow the Rector Prof. Stattev met also with representatives of the Academic Managing Body of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). At the meeting there were discussed the opportunities to profound and expand the longstanding cooperation between the UNWE and MGIMO University as well as the opening of joint Master`s degree programmes with double diplomas, academic exchange development, joint publications of researchers from both academic institutions in scientific magazines, partnership in the frameworks of Erasmus+ Programme, etc.

The Rector suggested for the UNWE to be co-organizer of Conference at the MGIMO University in May 2019 devoted to the 140th Anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Russia. He also suggested to be organized a video link between both universities during the Conference that would be broadcasted lively in the Internet.

During the meeting it was agreed to update the Agreement between the UNWE and MGIMO University featuring specific joint activities including the expansion of students exchange.

Prof. Stattev had a conversation with representatives of the Academic Managing Body of Saint Petersburg State University of Economic (UNECON) about some specific parameters of partnership between both universities.

The Rector gave the academic regalia for the Honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa of UNWE (a roll in the Old-Bulgarian and Latin language and the Honorary sign of UNWE) that in 2007 the UNWE Academic Council conferred on Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Leonid Tarasevic, UNECON President (already deceased). (At that time Prof. Tarasevich couldn`t get the regalia personally because of illness.)  

At the Consulate General of Bulgaria in Saint Petersburg the Rector met with Bulgarian students who study at different universities in the city. He presented to them the UNWE – the oldest, the largest and the most authoritative business university in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe which will mark the 100th Anniversary of its establishment in 2020 (in the picture below).

The Rector presented to students the opportunities of education in the 108 Master`s degree and 38 Doctoral degree programmes of UNWE and answered their numerous questions. At the meeting attended Lieutenant-General Dr. Angel Antonov and Ilian Sarandaliev, Chairman of the Bulgarian Student Community in the Russian Federation.
