On behalf of the Rector Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev and Rectors Managing Body, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Valkov greeted the guest for his lectures at the UNWE that had turned into tradition. He determined the event as the consecutive evidence that at the threshold of its 100th Anniversary the UNWE as the largest business university in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe keeps holding up the entrepreneurial spirit and strengthening its relations with the business – a priority set in the objectives of the university ever since its establishment and necessary condition for the preparation of students for the practice, for the professions of the future.

In his presentation Mr. Karel Král examined in details the three major factors influencing the determination of electricity price in a world scale: the macroeconomic perspective, electricity market development and consequences of supporting the Hydroelectric Power Plants (HPP) in Germany. The three factors are characterized by constant variables which not allow to prognosticate the electricity price for a number of years and only its increasing and downwards trends can be determined. The price is calculated through complicated mix of formulas and schedules almost every minute on the base of correlation between the GDP and electricity consumption in a world plan as it is taken into account the influence of the EU regulations on greenhouse gases, HPP and reduction of polluting emissions.

The lecturer clarified that the progress of technologies, strive for more and more energy effectiveness and environmental protection by using renewable energy sources had led to intensive gasification, increase the capacity for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) in a world scale and switching the coal-fired power plants to gas-fired power plants. It means that there is a smooth transition from one to another kind of energy power plant. No matter how useful are the new energy sources the trend towards an increase in the electricity price is the only trend for the future, pointed out Mr. Král.

During the lecture

There was a great interest to the topic and lots of questions by the attendees in the hall and the guest-lecturer answered them thoroughly. Mr. Karel Král was awarded Certificate of Appreciation for his lecture on behalf of the Rector Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev (in the picture below).
