Chinese-Bulgarian Rectors` Higher Education Forum

Cooperation - Challenges - Future - it was the topic of the Chinese-Bulgarian Rectors` Higher Education Forum held in the Large Conference Hall bringing together rectors, vice-rectors and heads of international departments of leading Chinese universities specialized in economics, management, political and social science education as well as representatives of the Bulgarian academic community. The perspectives and specific forms of Chinese-Bulgarian academic cooperation were discussed.

The UNWE hosted and co-organized the Forum jointly with the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Bulgaria.

In his welcoming speech the Rector Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev pointed out the fruitful cooperation between the UNWE and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University and expressed confidence that the Forum would give a new impetus for the development of the partnership between Chinese and Bulgarian universities.

Prof. Stattev presented UNWE - the largest business university in Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe where study more than 22 000 students. Our university has extensive experience in joint Master`s degree programs with foreign universities as well as joint research activity and exchange of university lecturers. This is a good basis for expanding our cooperation with Chinese universities. Let's start with small but fast steps to work together, said Prof. Stattev.

Ms. Fu Bo thanked the Rector Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev for the warm welcome and pointed out that the Chinese delegation consists of 38 rectors, vice rectors and lecturers from 44 universities, colleges and higher education institutions. Chinese educational institutions serve to the society by encouraging the personal and educational development of young people in the dynamically changing modern world and are keen to develop the traditional friendly relations in the field of higher education between China and Bulgaria, said Ms. Fu Bo (in the picture below).

Prof. Sun Guohui introduced the Central University of Finance and Economics included in the Double First-Class initiative, part of the national plan for development of world-class universities and first-class disciplines. He expressed confidence for fruitful cooperation with the UNWE which he described as the best Bulgarian university in the field of economics (in the picture below).

The Forum continued with exchange of information and discussion on possible forms of cooperation between Bulgarian and Chinese universities.
