Public Lecture by Prof. Mario Lozano

Prof. Mario Lozano, lecturer at the University of Eastern Piedmont, PhD School in Institutional Law - University of Turin and University of Milan-Bicocca delivered public lecture about Norberto Bobbio, Major Figure in Italian Legal History of 20th Century.

During the event it was presented the book by Prof. Lozano - Great Legal Systems, Introduction into European and Non-European Law, translated by Polya Tarkoleva. Translation consultant of the book is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Konstantin Tanev, Director of the Inter-University Scientific Research Center for Roman Law Studies and Novelistic Tradition.

In Prof. Lozano`s lecture we will feel the spirit of an era that has led to our present torments and problems. He will also tell us about his teacher who is one of the most famous Italian philosophers of law, said Assoc. Prof. Tanev (in the picture below).

I would like to express thankfulness to Prof. Lozano who accepted our invitation to visit Bulgaria with great enthusiasm. She pointed out that his book is the only work of its kind translated from Italian (in the picture below).

It`s an honor for me to meet Prof. Lozano at the Legal Faculty. I will listen to him with pleasure and I hope that our contact will continue developing in the future for being useful as for the students as for the lecturers of the Legal Faculty.

Prof. Lozano shared that talking about Norberto Bobbio should talk about himself because for 30 years of communication Bobbio had left in him a stamp of personality not only as a scientist but also as a person. The Italian professor began its story from the far 1959 when he had sit for examination to Bobbio for the first time. He presented his life in a historical plan telling interesting details, facts and personal experiences from his lively contact with Bobbio. Prof. Lozano pointed out the factors and persons that formed Norberto Bobbio as great philosopher and one of the most famous professors of law as well as the difficulties he had passed over the era of Berluskoni and the impact of Hans Kelsen on his philosophical thinking and worldview.

The exclusively interesting presentation of the personality of Norberto Bobbio provoked lots of questions from the attendees in the hall and for his lecture Prof. Lozano was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the Rector Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev.

During the lecture

Prof. Lozano is Honorary Doctor of the University of Hannover, University of the Republic, Montevideo, Uruguay, Carlos III University of Madrid, Spain and Brazilian Federal University of Pernambuco. He is a holder of international distinctions by Germany, Brazil, Italy, France and Austria. He is an author of more than 60 books and 500 articles translated in different languages including Bulgarian.
