UNWE Doctoral Student Won the Best Paper Award

Svilen Kolev, full time Doctoral student at the UNWE Finance Department won the Best Paper Award among nearly 30 Doctoral students who took part in the 19th Annual Conference on Finance and Accounting (ACFA) organized by the Finance and Accounting Faculty of the University of Economics, Prague.

The UNWE Doctoral student was awarded for his research on the Negative Interest Rates: Evidence from Bulgaria“. His research studies the effects of negative interest rates over the excess reserves of Bulgarian banks. The topic is related to his dissertation paper under the scientific guidance of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Silvia Trifonova.

The participation of Svilen Kolev in the Conference in Prague is related to the implementation of short term scientific research mobility. He was part of target group of Doctoral students on the project BG05M2OP001-2.009-0012 entitled Enhancement of the UNWE Research Potential and Improvement of Conditions for Implementation of Scientific Research – Investment with Many Dimensions. The project is funded by the Operational Programme Science and Education for Smart Growth and co-funded by the EU through the European Structural and Investment Funds (ESI Funds). Head of the project is Prof. Dr. Valentin Goev and Coordinator – Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Stanka Tonkova.

The Doctoral student met with lecturers from the Finance and Accounting Faculty as well as from the Monetary Theory and Monetary Policy Department at the University of Economics, Prague.
