The Rector Prof. Statty Stattev Awarded Plaque and Certificate to the Honorary Rector Prof. Dr. Borislav Borisov

During the session of the UNWE General Assembly Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev bestowed on Prof. Dr. Borislav Borisov, Honorary Rector of UNWE, Certificate and Plaque in relation to the title of Honorary Professor of UNWE conferred on him by the UNWE Academic Council for “his comprehensive contribution to the UNWE development and for his indisputable authority in the academic community”.

Prof Stattev awarded to Prof, Borisov also the Golden Mask of the Thracian King Teres with inscription saying: "For Prof. Dr. Borislav Borisov, Honorary Rector and Honorary Professor of UNWE, founder and longstanding Head of the Creative Industries and Intellectual Property Department, founder and Director of the Intellectual Property and Leadership Institute, for his huge merits to the education and dissemination of the intellectual property knowledge in the country and abroad, for his exceptional contribution to the UNWE development, for his academic dedication and firm loyalty to the valuables of higher education and science”.

After the awarding Prof. Borisov declared:

“I would like to confess that I don`t know what to say. I have listened to dozens of greetings and speeches after awarding the prizes and distinctions and I know that people speak honestly, they speak by their hearts but I can hardly remember any of their speeches, all they sound to me somehow similar. In fact I remember that the gifts are given at parting, when somebody leaves so in it there is also something symbolic.

There`s no way to not feel excited at the moment because it is an assessment of my work which contains the work of a large part of people in the hall. I don`t say it out of courtesy I say it as a perceived reality because each person who have worked with me has at least a fragment of contribution concentrated in my work. That`s why I would also like to express my thankfulness to the collegium, to the people who have been next to me and with me, who have been committed to what we do for the university. I deliberately don`t use the adjective “favourite” about the university because you could have a favourite book of the ones you have read or a favourite film of the ones you have watched or a favourite woman of the women you have communicated with but a favourite university – it doesn`t sounds well to me. I have one university! I have begun my working activity at it and I will finish my working activity at it. So when I want to express my attitude to the UNWE I couldn`t say anything else except “my university” in the same sense as I say “my parents, my family, my home”.

Dear colleagues, I am Honorary Professor and Doctor Honoris Causa of three foreign universities and the fourth university awarded me a Golden medal with serial No. 8 having in mind that the first seven medals are awarded to Presidents and Prime Ministers. Do not accept it as a boast, I am saying it because in all these cases I have felt pleasant but I have never felt so contented as I am feeling now when I am awarded by “my university”.
