“All the people who are concerned to think for the existence and good future of the nation set the science as first and necessary condition for achieving their aim”. These words written 141 years ago by Prof. Stephan Bobchev – founder and first Rector of UNWE later turn into an academic credo and spiritual emanation of the University of National and World Economy, declared the Rector of UNWE.

The Rector Prof. Stattev

The science has always been a priority in the activity of UNWE ever since its foundation in 1920 and we can say that we continue the tradition, pointed out Prof. Stattev. The Rector specified that the scientific research activity has two major fields, the first one – elaborations confirming the leadership positions of UNWE in the country and abroad and the second one – economic, social, political and legal research in support of the state and business.

At the moment it is worked on 127 scientific projects and more than 400 researches participate in them including 40 undergraduates and 100 Doctoral students. The next task of all Heads of projects will be to attract more actively more students to work on projects because it is one of the ways for the most successful Masters of Science to include in the Doctoral programmes, pointed out the Rector.

Participants in the Scientific Session

For the period 2016 – 2017 there are completed 27 projects and they will be reported during the Session, 8 of them are financed by the European programmes and 10 of them – by the Scientific Research Fund, outlined Prof. Stattev. But I would like to up build in more projects by European financing and enter the European research area. The Rector outlined that the UNWE Scientific Research Centers should become generators for scientific projects.
