Students from the Logistics Department Visited Festo Bulgaria

Thirty five students of specialities Business Logistics and Suplly Chain Management visited Festo Bulgaria – the production enterprise of the company Festo AG&Co in Bulgaria. It was the consecutive initiative organized by the Logistics Department in order to enhance the relations between the business and education and improve the professional realization of students.

The students led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Miroslava Rakovska, Vice Dean for Scientific Activity of Economics of Infrastructure Faculty and Head of the Logistics Department watched all active processes in the field of supply chain management in a real environment. They were met by the team of Material Facilities and Purchase Department headed by Arno Kuyumdzhiyan. 

Presentation of activities of Festo Bulgaria

During the meeting were presented all spheres of supply chain management at the Festo Bulgaria – the strategic planning of market demands, management of production orders and materials, supplier management, logistic processes management. In the presentation took part Slavina Zdravcheva, Head of Purchase Unit and Dragomir Yonchev, Head of Logistics and Storage Facilities Unit. 

Practical lessons

The programme included also a visit to the Circuit Cards Saturation Unit having its own storage area as well as a tour round the production departments. It was emphasized on the major methods of production orders and logistic processes management. Students had the opportunity to watch the practical application of the methods they had studied at the Logistics Department including the application of the concept Just in time in the Festo production.
