Lecturers from The UNWE Participated in The Summer Institute at The University of Notre Dame, USA
The lecturers from the National and Regional Security Department of UNWE Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Dean of the Economics of Infrastructure Faculty and Head of the National and Regional Security Department, Chief Assist. Dr. Ekaterina Bogomilova, Scientific Secretary of the Department and Assist. Dr. Atanas Dimitrov took part in the 9th edition of the prestigious Summer Institute for programme development in the field of peace studies entitled Teching Peace in the 21st Century. The Institute was organized by the Kros Institute for International Peace Studies at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, USA – one of the leading universities in the field of security.
The event gathers together scientists who develop university programmes for peace studies. Since its establishment the Summer Institute has been a host of 350 participants from 90 different institutions – colleges and universities from six continents. In the current year the Institute was held in the period of 19 – 23 June and in it took part representatives of 18 universities from the USA, Columbia, South Korea and South Africa. The UNWE team of lecturers was the only participant from the EU.

The summer Institute was led by Prof. George Lopez, internationally recognized authority in the field of programmes for peace studies and former Vice President of the American Institute for Peace Studies.
During the event Prof. Dimitar Dimitrov presented the UNWE International Master`s Degree Programme in Nuclear Security. The Programme which is a result of the Agreement signed by the Director General of IAEA Yukiya Amano and the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev provoked great interest. The lecturer team held meetings with Prof. Lopez and representatives of the Notre Dame University and the National University of Seoul and during the meetings were discussed the opportunities for future cooperation in the field of peace studies and nuclear security.
