Awards for The Winners in The Tennis Tournament for Rector`s Cup
The final of the traditional XXI Tennis Tournament for lecturers and employees from the UNWE for Rector`s Cup was held at the tennis-courts of Bonsist Sports Complex. The event was organized by St. George the Victorious Academic Sports Club and the Physical Education and Sport Department.

In the current year the difference in the Tournament was that the couples were not pointed out by the lot and each player had declared who will play with in advance. The final game was played between Sen. Lect. Dr. Ivan Stoilov and Nikolay Yordanov, former competitor in the football team and longstanding participant in the Tournament against Sen. Lect. Peter Ivanov and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Marko Dimitrov. A Chief Referee for the Tournament was Sen. Lect. Kiril Germanliev and champions became Yordanov and Dr. Stoilov with score 2-0 sets.

At the awarding ceremony attended the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev, Prof. Dr. Georgy Yankov, Chairman of St. George the Victorious Academic Sports Club, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Spas Stavrev, Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department.
The tradition goes on and besides the sections for tennis and folk dances we will open also a section for chess and lecturers and employees of the university will took active part in it, said Prof. Yankov. Thus the activity of our Academic Sports Club will be expanded and all will have the opportunity to participate in the sport events, pointed out the Chairman of the Club.

Prof. Yankov gave the special Fair Play Award to Assoc. Prof. Stavrev. According to his words the award is equal to the Champion Cup and it is awarded for the first time to the Head of the Physical Education and Sport Department.

The Rector Prof. Stattev was given a special award by Prof. Yankov and Assoc. Prof. Stavrev as a sign of thankfulness for his support to the university sport. They also gave him a present – a photo of the Jubilee 20th Tournament which was held last year (in the picture below).

The participants in the Tournament were given T-shirts having the Tournament logo and after the awarding ceremony they all took a picture together.
