Bulgarian Chinese Center for Scientific Research Programmes and Students Exchange Starts Working at The UNWE

On 17 January the Bulgarian Chinese Center for Scientific Research Programmes and Students Exchange was officially opened at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) – the third largest university in China.

The Center is a joint initiative of Dimitar Abadjiev, until recently Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Shanghai (now ambassador of Bulgaria to Slovenia) and Prof. Che Shengquan, Deputy Dean of the School of Agriculture and Biology (SAB). It is part of China's One Belt and One Road Strategy. By the Bulgarian party in the Center are included the UNWE, St. Climent Ohridski University of Sofia and the Technical University of Sofia but the projects are available for scientists from all the universities in the country.

At the opening of the Center the Jiao Tong University was represented by its Academic Managing Body and Mrs. Ma Dishou, Honorary Rector and Deputy Chairwoman of the National Commission on Education who has recently visited our university. By the Bulgarian party at the event attended Yanaki Stoilov, Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly, Dimitar Abadjiev and Dimitar Pampulov, Consulate General of the Republic of Bulgaria in Shanghai.  

Dimitar Abadjiev read a special Greeting speech by the Rector of UNWE Prof. D.Sc.(Econ.) Statty Stattev (see below).

A three years programme for the Center is accepted and for the first time a budget for the Center from the Chinese government is approved for funding the scientific research programmes in the frameworks of the initiative 16+1. There will be two offices of the Center – one at the SJTU and one at the UNWE. For their Directors are elected Prof. Huang Zhen, Vice President of SJTU and Dimitar Abadjiev.
