International Conference on The Entrepreneurship Teaching, Research and Practice in Global Environment – Building Bridges

The Entrepreneurship Department and the Entrepreneurship Development Institute at UNWE organized jointly with the Bulgarian Association of Management and Entrepreneurship Development and the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship the 7th consecutive International Conference on the Entrepreneurship Teaching, Research and Practice in Global Environment – Building Bridges (one of six in the world recommended by the International Council for Small Business).

The Conference was held in the period of 8-10 June in Pomorie, Via Pontica Resort.

The mission of the Conference was to gather at one place professionals in the field of entrepreneurship to share and discuss ideas, issues, solutions and good practices in the competitive and practically oriented entrepreneurial education, training and consulting.      

The leading lecturers at the Conference were:

  • Prof. David Smallbone, Small Business Research Centre, Kingston University, London, UK, Ex-President of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB).
  • Prof. Marc Cowling, Research Director, Brighton Business School, Brighton University, England, one of the most cited scientists in Europe.
  • Prof. Rodrigo Varela, Director of Entrepreneurship Development Center, University Icesi, Cali, Columbia (The Center is certified as the best one in Latin America).
  • Mr. Paolo Zaramella, Senior Consultant at the Studio Centro Veneto, Italy, holder of the European Commission of Family Business Transfer Award for Brand No. 1.
  • Prof. Herbert Chen, Chief Operative Director of the Tsinghua University Scientific Park (TusPark), member of the Board of UNESCO Regional Center for Technology Incubators and Scientific Parks Development (IRIS), Director of China Bureau, President of the Asian-Pacific Division of the International Association of Scientific Parks and Innovative Fields (IASP).
  • Prof. Andrew Burke, Dean of Trinity Business School, Trinity College, Dublin, University of Dublin, Ireland, editor-founder of the magazine International Review of Entrepreneurship (IRE).
  • Mrs. Madi Sharma, founder of Madi Group - a group of International private sector and social enterprises, representative of the UK in the Employers' Group at European Economic and Social Committee.

In the frameworks of the Conference were held the following events:

  • Round-Table Conference with the participation of several countries – presenter Prof. Ken O`Neil, University of Ulster, North Ireland, Ex-President of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB), Doctor Honoris Causa of UNWE.
  • Seminar for Doctoral students: How to Prepare a Serious Dissertation?
  • Seminar: How to Publish in Prestigious International Journals?

Presenter of both seminars was Prof. David Smallbone.

  • Seminar on Management and Development of Scientific / Technology Parks, Incubators, Innovative Clusters. Moderator of the event was Prof. Herbert Chen - Operative Director of TusPark (China) and another Chinese Parks Directors. In the Seminar took part representatives of scientific and technology parks from various countries. TusPark (Tsinghua University Science Park, Beijing) is the largest in the world having a turnover of 5.5 billion USD, educated 50 Chinese billionaires. Its graduate is also the present Chinese President Xi Jinping.

In the Conference took active part scientists, consultants, entrepreneurs and policy-makers from Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, United Kingdom, Germany, Greece, Italy, China, Columbia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Poland, Puerto Rico, USA, France, Sweden, Ukraine and South Africa.
