The UNWE Will Be The First University Implementing A Pilot Project on Anti-Corruption Education

The UNWE is the first university in the country which will implement a pilot project on anti-corruption education at the Bulgarian higher schools.

The project is part of the Memorandum of Cooperation in the field of anti-corruption education between the Bulgarian government and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime. It was sighed in Vienna by the Vice Prime Minister for European Policies Coordination Meglena Kuneva. The objective of the agreement is to serve as a framework of cooperation providing an anti-corruption education at the Bulgarian universities.

During the signing of the Memorandum attended Assoc. Prof. Svetoslav Spasov, permanent representative of the Republic of Bulgaria to the United Nations, Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and international organizations in Vienna, Austria as well as Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Dean of the Economics of Infrastructure Faculty and Head of the National and Regional Security Department.

Bulgaria is the second country which will participate in the project. “We highly appreciate the cooperation with Bulgaria and observe with interest the course of events in the field of fight against corruption”, outlined Yuri Fedotov, Chairman of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.

The project with the UNWE will include various specialities which will provide for the people working in the field of economics and law to cope with the gaps in the system as well as to prevent the turning of corruption into a risky breach of law for the country, said in an interview for Focus News Agency the Vice Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva.
