Tuition for American Students at The UNWE

For a second time the UNWE is a host of one week tuition for students from the Florida International University (FIU), Miami, USA. It is implemented on the grounds of the Memorandum of cooperation signed in 2012 between the UNWE and the FIU for encouraging the international academic and scientific exchange. The tuition is organized by the proposal of the Public Administration Department in the frameworks of curriculum for the PAD Course „Multilevel Governance Issues and the European Union: the Case of Bulgaria”. At the official opening of the tuition attended Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev, Rector of the university, Prof. Allan Rosenbaum, Director of the Institute of Public Management and Public Service at FUI, Head of the American group of students, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Alexander Valkov, Head of the Public Administration Department, Assoc. Prof. Polya Katsamunska, Coordinator of the tuition programme at the UNWE and lots of lecturers.

 “Welcome to the best Bulgarian university”, greeted the American students Assoc. Prof. Dr. Polya Katsamunska. She reminded that in November 2013 in the frameworks of the successful partnership between the UNWE and the FIU was held the first one week tuition on Public Administration for American students – part of the curriculum for the PAD 5934 Contemporary Issues in Public Administration of FIU. Assoc. Prof. Katsamunska expressed her confidence that the second tuition would also be so effective.

The Rector Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) outlined to foreign students that the UNWE is the largest university in the country having 21 434 students as well as a national leader in the higher education achieving the highest institutional assessment by the National Assessment and Accreditation Agency. For its 95 years the UNWE has always prepared the national elite and among its graduates there are six Prime Ministers, six Foreign Ministers and fourteen Financial Ministers.

Our university has a specific policy of encouraging the international exchange and the Memorandum between the UNWE and the FIU is an example of that, outlined Prof. Stattev. He wished the American students good luck in the implementation of the programme focused on the issues of multilevel management in the European Union frameworks.

The American students

Thank you for your hospitability and partnership as well as for the organization of the second meeting at the university, said Prof. Allan Rosenbaum who expressed his hope that the tuition week at the UNWE would be interesting and fruitful for the fifteen students.

The tuition programme for the American students consists of lectures at the university, visits of public institutions with educational objective as well as a cultural programme including visits of historical places.
