Our Volleyball Players Won Silver Medals in Paris

The representative male volleyball team of UNWE won silver medals in the Five Balls - International University Tournament in Paris, France.

In the thirty sixth edition of the Tournament took part 18 universities from 16 states – Belgium, Bulgaria, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary, Switzerland, Austria, Lebanon, etc.  The hosts were represented by three universities. During the official opening ceremony of the Tournament our university was awarded the honorary plaque and our delegation sang the national anthem of Bulgaria accompanied by a student symphonic orchestra and choir.

Our volleyball teams

Our volleyball players were in the group of teams from Belgium, Italy and France. The boys of the coach Peter Ivanov were defeated only by the Belgium team. In the semi-finals Bulgarians defeated the French team with score 3:2 after a game lasted about 3 hours. In the final competitions our volleyball players were defeated with score 0:3 by the Belgium team in which participated students from professional sport teams. Although our volleyball players were defeated they give their best during the game and deserved the loud applause of participants in the Tournament who watched the final match.

At the Tournament in Paris

Our female volleyball team also competed with dignity and won two victories but it wasn`t enough to win a prize. The girls of the coach Ralitsa Arsova were ranked fifth among ten teams in the competition. The Bulgarian girls were greeted for their sportsmanship behavior and for their beauty they won fans among the competitors and the audience.
