The Rector Opened The International Conference on Co-operation in Defence and Security
On February, 19th, 2014 at the Central Military Club the Rector Prof. D.Sc. (Econ.) Statty Stattev opened the International Scientific Conference on the East-West Defence &Security Co-operation Conference - EWDSC 2014. Prof. Stattev presented the experience of UNWE in the international co-operation and outlined some economic arguments related to the topic.
Ivan Zherkov, Chief of the Minister of Defence Office delivered an opening speech on behalf of the Minister of Defence Angel Naydenov. Greetings to the participants addressed also Solomon Passy, President of the Atlantic Club in Bulgaria, H.E. Jonathan Allen, British Ambassador to Bulgaria, Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Head of the National and Regional Security Department at the UNWE, etc.

In the three-day Conference took part guest-lecturers from eight countries, Bulgarian experts and scientists from the UNWE, Bulgarian Academy of Science, the Council of Ministers, Ministry of Defence, the Defence Staff, Military Medical Academy, Military Academy, Ministry of Economy, Energy and Tourism, agencies and services in the field of the national security, representatives of the defence industry, the Defense Committee of the National Assembly, ambassadors and military attaches accredited in our country, etc.

During the Forum were discussed topics related to the defence of the airspace, terrorism and national security, cyber security, the role and place of the defence industry in these processes.
The results of the Conference will be published in a collection in the English language.
