Career Days 2013

More than 50 state institutions and leading Bulgarian and international companies in the sectors of Economics, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing and Customer Services participated in the Career Days at the UNWE under the patronage of the Rector Prof. Statty Stattev. Due to the organizers namely the JobTiger, Inter-University Center for Career Development and Students Council the employers presented to students their internship programmes and job opportunities.

It is a very good opportunity for a direct real relation between the education and the business, said the Rector Prof. Statty Stattev who opened the Career Days at the Ceremonial Hall.

The Rector Prof. Stattev is opening the Career Days and greeting the participants and guests.

Prof. Stattev expressed his hope that the tendency of increasing interest to the companies would continue and the university lobby would become small for their counters. He cited the assessments of employers about our university alumni.

Assoc. Prof. Biser Petkov, Manager of the National Insurance Institute said: I am proud of I have graduated from the UNWE. Three quarters of the total 3700 employees at the National Insurance Institute are the UNWE alumni.

At the Ceremonial Hall

Kamelia Lozanova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian National Employment Agency outlined: Graduates from the UNWE don`t stay unemployed for more than 4 months. For the last 5 years only 600 graduates of total 24 000 ones have been registered at the Employment Agency. 857 of total 2200 employees at the Agency are the UNWE alumni. A considerable part of the Agency Managing Body also consists of graduates from the UNWE. Your students are among the most sought after and qualified professionals in Bulgaria.

Valery Apostolov, Deputy Chairman of the Bulgarian National Audit Office said: 40% of auditors at the National Audit Office have graduated from the UNWE. Their qualification is on very high level.

Zlatozar Surlekov from the Corporate Commercial Bank outlined: The UNWE has no alternative one at the labour market.

Boyko Kostov, Chairman of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Bulgaria said: A considerable part of the registered auditors in Bulgaria are the UNWE alumni.

Vasil Simov, Executive Director of the Sofia Commodity Exchange outlined: The founders of the Sofia Commodity Exchange and Sofia Stock Exchange have graduated from the UNWE. The quality of education is very high and so it is preferred the employees to the UNWE alumni.

The Rector highlighted that those assessments had been very important because for building the self-esteem we should know how we had looked from the outside. His appeal to the institutions and employers was: Appreciate our students because they deserve it. Let them be the professionals preferred by you as usual.

It is a pleasure for me to meet with young and ambitious people. The Career Days are a unique chance for students to find their employer, declared Rositsa Yankova, Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Policy. She examined the state of the labour market and emphasized that one of the main problems was the lack of professional experience. Yankova announced that some alterations in the Employment Promotion Act had been prepared which would give an opportunity of graduates to work in the most preferred sectors at the labour market.

Svetlozar Petrov, Manager of the JobTiger announced that since 14 years his company had been concerned with the relation between the education and the business organizing similar events. He expressed his thankfulness to the Rector Prof. Statty Stattev and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jordan Bliznakov, Director of the Inter-University Career Center for the successful partnership. “The way to the personal happiness goes through the good job”, outlined Petrov and wished success to the students in their future career.

The difference between the successful and failure people is not in the lack of knowledge but in the lack of a will, declared Violina Marinova, Chairwoman of the Management Board and Chief Executive Director of DSK Bank, member of the Trustees Council of UNWE. She wished the students persistence and recalled them that DSK Bank participating also in the Career Days had offered an internship programme and any young educated person had been welcomed.

Kamelia Lozanova, Executive Director of the Bulgarian National Employment Agency turned to students with the following words: “The doors open ahead of you without you have to knock on them. I wish you a lot of success and money but don`t lose your hearts”.

According to the Chairman of the Students Council Antoan Shotarov the Career Days at the UNWE refute the commonly circulated assertion that the relation between the university and the business had been broken.

During the whole day at the university lobby the students from the UNWE and other universities had the chance to know about the opportunities for internship and work offered by the state institutions and companies.

 

Students looked at the companies and state institutions counters with interest.

 

 

In parallel with the exhibition was held also a seminar programme. During the discussions and presentations the students learnt about the state policy in the field of employment and career development, the actual issues of the business and real cases which the company representatives had been faced with.
